I am loathe to give Slate any hits...is Hitchens seriously suggesting that it is our interrogators who are the traitors?

I think we should abolish the CIA because they are DemonRat shills and are totally incompetent, not to mention treasonous.

Treason is a crime against country providing aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war.

How does THIS amount to treason?

let me get this straight...Dhimmicrats are accusing WHO of treason? Let’s start with the Clintons, then Murtha, then Pilosi, then Reid...et cetera, et cetera. Perhaps the dhimmis might try asking the military who they think the traiters are. What gall!

First they called for a special prosecutor to find out who REVEALED the identity of a CIA (public) employee.

Now they want to call for a special prosecutor to find out who PROTECTED the identity of CIA (deep-cover) employees.

My head hurts.

Better to destroy those tapes than let them fall into the hands of democrats, who will be eager to share them with our enemies, in hopes that, in the future, those enemies will be able to learn from them and be able, then, to frustrate such interrogation techniques. Once again, democrats standing down for America.

I’d agree to start over with the CIA. It’s a ‘rat’s nest in general.

As far as I know there is no law requiring interrogations to be recorded. There should also be no law requiring the retention of such recordings. I think the problem for the CIA may lie in that the existence of the tapes were known to certain members of Congress and the 9/11 Commission and that the tapes had been requested but never produced.

Almost all our government agencies are bloated, and corrupted by position and pay scale. Man, without internal guidance from the Higher Authority (Holy Spirit), is a self centered beast, who will ultimately create a wide path to a destructive end.

He praises the Church Commission, et al then condemns the CIA for its (the CIA's) failures. Go figure.

Christopher Hitchens still demands that Henry Kissinger be tried as a war criminal, I believe.

As best I can remember Mr. Kissinger's "crime" was to authorize (through Nixon) the bombing of enemy troops who enjoyed a nice safe sanctuary in Cambodia.

I think it's accurate to say Mr. Hitchens was of the radical Clintonist belief that U.S. forces should be defeated and Uncle Ho's heroic people's democratic republic should win.

IMO he's still a fundamental Clintonist though to be fair he did help expose (and prevent) the planned personal destruction of Monica; but that dastardly deed was beyond radical Clintonist beliefs and was a personal problem created by BJ.

I destroyed some tapes today also!
SO WHAT!!!
It’s not like they were evidence in a criminal proceeding.
We DO NOT owe it to the world to conduct our terrorist investigations on the 6:00 News!
We wouldn’t want the enemy to know that if they’re caught we just might withhold their daily ration of M&M’s!

I see this as struggle between factions within the CIA - call them the loyalist and commie factions. The loyalists saw that the commies were going to get hold of the tapes and release them to the public, and destroyed them to prevent the occurrence. It’s readily apparent that any repercussions of this act pale beside the consequences of the release of these tapes, whoever’s heads might roll.

Does mistah Hitchens consider Sandy Burglar a mutineer and a traitor?
If not then he's nothing but a propagandist for the commies.
