There was an additional armed security guard there, another man, who also didn't fire, Bourbonnais said.

An earlier article said the female security guard was the only one with a gun. I wonder if Bourbonnais only saw their holsters and thought both male guards had guns when they didn't.

Which is why the male guards weren't shooting back.

If the guy knew to take them along I have to assume he knew when and where popping a few smokes would be as tactically advantageous as anything that goes boom.

Wonder if the MSM will get that part right, or poopoo the smokes.

Even if the media spin it this way, it still works to our advantage, e.g. we just counter: "This incident demonstrates that quick thinking and response by an armed citizen can not only save lives threatened by deranged people using a gun, but it can also save lives threatened by potential terrorist bombers." I don't see this type of spin attempt as a downside.

So, do you have any evidence to the contrary of what the state panel says? Or were you just guessing?

This would be appropriate...

I blew the formatting with the < > on that reply at 367. It dropped out the middle quote, and totally mangles my meaning. I meant to 100% agree that it could have been 100s easily, with 7,000 tightly packed targets, and rifle ammo capable of penetrating several people each.

I was pretty sure of your intent - I just thought the possible grenade angle was interesting.

Talking to you reminds me to quit procrastinating and order your second book! I thoroughly enjoyed the first one. Thanks, and keep up the good work!

The pastor and guard were just on LKL, and he said that the service was over and "only" a few hundred people were left at the church. That doesn't change the basic story line at all, but it is a good example of how wrong info gets out and embedded. The poster above quoted, and most of the assumptions on the thread, were that services were still on and 7,000 people were inside. Just another example of waiting to see how facts emerge.

While I am not a believer that we should all sit around and sing Kumbaya and not notice things about the world, this is a good example that FACTS and how people act must trump pre-suppositions. If you just looked at HER (the guard) and her name, and looked at HIM (the murderer) and his name, it would be easy for a lot of folks, some on these threads, to assume that she is more likely to be a terrorist and he to be an innocent victim. Life plays out in lots of funny ways.

The fact that people CAN conceal carry stops crime. This point was stated on a local hippie rock station, 103.1 FM, in Los Angeles today, during a report on this brave woman’s deeds.

The guy who made the point is their “Legal Advice Show” guy at the station.

I sensed that the Newsreader-ette Gal - was going to pee her pants in horror, when he said this. Her reaction on air suggested that she is a gun-control ‘advocate.’ She was clearly horrified that he was “suggesting” that when honest citizens carry guns, there is less crime in the community.

:)

This exchange was heard ...in L.A.

Conclusion: Hell has indeed ‘frozen over.’

Yay!!!!

My husband was head usher at our former church. He had an informal "A team" in case of trouble. They never had any because they always managed to talk 'em down. Of course if you have a couple of old Navy Chiefs, a karate black belt whose night job is bouncer in a local bar, a judo instructor, and your team leader is 6'6", 250# and 4th kyu aikido, it helps.

Problem is in GA nobody can tote in a church. That puts everybody at a disadvantage. Gun free zone. They were always very aware of that.

"She probably saved over a hundred lives," Boyd said of the guard, whom he said is not a law enforcement officer and used her personal weapon.

I'd share a foxhole with her...and I haven't even seen her picture.

" informal "A team"

I like that description. I hope you don't mind if I use it at my church in the future. We also have an "unspoken", "informal A team" which immediately responds to any trouble and shifts from "usher" mode to "bouncer" mode. Our church is located next to a "half-way" house and we have drunks wonder in frequently. We also have no trouble "talk'n em down" as they don't wish to go back to the "big house". We've had a few lately that required the "laying on of hands" to remove from the service but they were the young punks that "know their rights". I'll share one of my favorite which just happened last month.

The pastor was preaching against Islam and that we don't worship the same God as Allah when a few tattooed, pierced young adults decided to make a scene. We escorted the ring leader to the parking lot and we stood between him and the door. He wouldn't leave and when pressed about that, he told us his friends were still inside. We were OK with that until he pulled out a cigarette and started to light up which is against our church policy of "No tobacco use on church property". Again, this informed young adult knew his rights and stepped off the church property onto the city sidewalk and started smoking his cigarette while verbally assaulting us. Then, on a clear day... with only a few white puffy clouds... it began to rain on him.

I looked at all the other ushers and we looked up at the clear sky and we all got under the awning and started heckling the heckler... fully expecting the full ZOT! from God any moment.
