On a sad note, the last time I checked NC CCW laws it would be illegal for me to be in a church with my Glock'Tis better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. And, unless you're from the People's Republic of Chapel Hill, I think that you'd have a hard time finding a jury that would convict. Especially if the object of your exercise was about to shoot up a church.

He stated the shooter had four weapons and he took the shooters handgun in case it was needed further.

Why didn't the security "volunteer" TURN THE OTHER CHEEK, as we are often counseled in our faith? People who believe that Jesus was saying do not defend yourself or your property by way of this verse are ignorant of what Jesus actually said and what he actually taught.
The admonition to turn the other cheek was in reference to putting up with insults without seeking retribution. When he tells them to sell their cloak and buy a sword, he was telling them that they were responsible for their own protection from bandits and murderers.
Had the gunman scrawled obscene graffiti on the Church, and the Church had not pressed charges, that would have been an example of turning the other cheek. This woman exhibited the correct behavior as Jesus told us we are responsible for our own safety and of those under our care.

Apparently fired 10-12 shots at the perp. I’d bet some of them were in the pelvis area, and that will stop things pretty quick.

The male victim who was rushing the shooter along with the female guard said. “I told her that was great shooting and she said she was praying and asking the Holy Spirit to direct her actions the entire time.”

Stories are sketchy, but one account has the perp with 500+ rounds and 4 firearms.

I think a look an the real meaning of the “turn the other cheek” passage (in the original Greek) states if someone SLAPS you on the cheek turn the other one. It does not say if one hits you with a club on one cheek, turn the other one. Built into the passage is the meaning of not to take offense at every little incident, but to exercise forbearance.

The male rusher may have diverted or divided the perp’s attention just enough to allow the female shooter to get off accurate aimed shots.
With God Almighty lining up her sights and steadying her hands.

The post of mine you replied to - #70 - was removed by the moderator with no explanation to me. I sent a private query but have yet to hear back. I am confused as to why, because all I had said in it was: the name of the perp (announced on TV a short time ago), the name and address of his neurologist father (whose address has been posted on several Colorado news sites, and whose name and address has been posted in other FR posts that have not been removed), and an invitation to Freepers to check myspace and facebook for any possible postings by the perp.
Anybody have any idea why my post would have been deleted?
I donate to almost every single Freepathon, and would certainly appreciate the courtesy of a short reply.

Why didn't the security "volunteer" TURN THE OTHER CHEEK, as we are often counseled in our faith? Turning the other cheek refers to being slapped or maybe punched, neither of which is usually lethal. Plus, they didn't have guns in the day that statement was originally made. Anyway, your statement is like unto one who claims to be a Christian in order to denigrate a religion as if it were one's own. I do that with Catholicism from time to time, since I was baptised and raised a Catholic for the first 15 years of my life. And when the Islams come to carve your head off, make sure you cooperate, OK?

All it took the lady shooter was 10 or 12 shots, to put down the maniac with 500 rounds on him.
Just amazing.

Your point is quite valid, we do have a tendency to overuse the moniker of courage, especially with sports figures. However, given the information we have, this person truly did act heroically. Another person, job or not, might have turned tail and run when the shots were fired, but she faced the threat with little regard for her own safety, knowing that many other lives were threatened. She deserves the praise she is getting and any honors that may be bestowed upon her for her heroic actions.

I really don't understand this trend in this country to hail people as heroes for doing the job they were hired to do. I'd remind you, DumbBlond, that every person in the US Military right now has been "hired" to do the jobs they are doing. All of the Police and Firemen at the World Trade Center were paid to do the jobs they were doing.
Need I go on?
