Looking more and more to be dead solid perfect...
I agree...but you’ll get flamed for that.
What he is saying is largely the truth about the spiritual condition of this country and should be coming from the pulpit.”

You’re right, Vader.
Where did I say it would be? What does that have to do with Huckabee?
Because that, plus "sin bears consequences, since it is harmful behavior by definition," is effectively, what Huckabee said at the pastors' convention. And you seem to be reading everything but the kitchen sink into it.
I mean, hea said the opposite of “that.” He said that we have been in decline.
Correction: "What he SAID..." in 1998 to a "Baptist Convention" of Pastors, in the capacity of the former president of the Arkansas Baptist Convention... He wasn't speaking as the Governor of Arkansas or as the candidate for POTUS... It was correct and specific for that audience in 1998... He was motivating a group of Pastors to go and lead their congregations... Mitt Romney just told us this week that his religion is important and he would not change his belief... Mitt also said he wasn't running for head pastor... Mitt was roundly praised by everyone from Rush, Sean, and many in the MSM... Why would any of you be alarmed about a 1998 speech which reflects Huckabee's beliefs and faith... This is not germane to the issues of the Presidency in 2008... If you want to beat up Huckabee, beat him up on the issues... There are plenty to choose from... BUT NOT THIS....
Neither am I, but it is very important to me the spiritual condition of my president.
Neither am I, but the spiritual condition of my president is very important to me.
You disagree with the statement that “sin reigns in the hearts and lives of human beings instead of the Savior”.?
Your “Satan” post to me was uncalled for.
What are you talking about? I simply said that Satan was well on his way to taking this country over. Had nothing to do with you whatsoever.
Whatever.
How bout quoting the whole thing? "The reason we have so much government is because we have so much broken humanity," he said. "And the reason we have so much broken humanity is because sin reigns in the hearts and lives of human beings instead of the Savior"
IMO thats pretty facile and banal. Thats why we have so much govt? How about, for ex., its because people like it when other people can be made to work for your own benefit?
I cant believe this Huckster Elmer Gantry is leading in any national office hunt. What a way!
Sorry! The whole thing makes it even more true!
I think this is at the heart of much of Huckabee's support. As a Christian, I can say I’d love to have a devout Christian in the White House all the time. However, as a Christian who lives in the real imperfect world, I know that even if a candidate expresses a devotion to Christ, I still can’t be certain of his or her spiritual condition. That is something only God knows.
So, in the secular government we have, which is also imperfect but the best in the world until Christ comes again, we have to make decisions based on more than just an expression of faith, which we are unable to judge.
I believe that conservative principles serve us best and it is important to preserve them. Those who came before us preserved those principle for us, not by focusing on electing ordained ministers or religious leaders, but by focusing on electing people who were strongly committed to governing according to them and who showed evidence of such through action and not just words.
As conservatives, Huckabee’s record is enough to give us pause. He may agree with you in a profession of faith, but will he govern in such a way that will not lead us further down the road to socialism, bigger government, insecure borders, unnecessary intrusion into private life, inconsistency and naivete on foreign policy, and other political destinations we would like to avoid? That is what we must decide.
He has a point, but I’m still not voting for him.
I don't see any quotation marks on that part of the story.
(just an observation.)
I do not believe that a pastor can be elected president in today's USA.
Or any other time in our history for that matter.
Christians by default do not seek worldly power without bearing persecution and the resulting separation from the spititual world in which they are supposed to belong.
Ask our current C.I.C. about this.
It Should be interesting to watch his poll numbers.
