There ain't gonna be no third party candidacy of any consequence in 2008. I say that as someone whose been involved in the legal side (getting on the ballot) than most FReepers realize even took place. McCarthy, Anderson, and more than 20 others. It is too late, even for somebody like Bloomberg with more money than brains, to mount a third-party effort now for 2008.

You're gonna have two choices. You may not like either of them, but you're only gonna have two. Time to get real,

I see an underlying theme here with the various posts. Politics is part strategy and part ideological convictions. When to exercise each for maximum political efficacy is where individuals differ. In other words, do I vote like a philosopher or a gambler?

Dear Congressman Billybob,

“You’re gonna have two choices.”

Nah. There will be other parties on the ballot in Maryland. The Constitution Party has made it the last few times.

And if not, I’ll write someone in.

Maybe myself.

I’m not voting for a baby-murdering liberal for president, whether he/she has an “R” or a “D” plastered to his/her backside.

They don't have to be "of consequence" just conservative. I intend to preserve the conservative place at the table, and that means never allowing the conservative vote to be taken for granted. A presidential term is a single space on the political chessboard, and I would not sacrifice the viability of the game to control a single space for four turns. The political game stretches out over the years, and he who only thinks one or two moves ahead has already lost barring a drunken or equally poor opponent.
