I won't vote for the nominee.
The Republican Party is a name, like the Whig Party.

Is that true?Unless the poster was here under another name or a long, long time reader and not registered he just arrived at FR in 2007. You and I were here in 2000 and I don't remember Bush being kicked out, although now reality has set in sadly.

Excellent post. The good news is that most posters so far on this thread seems to support the nominee even though reluctantly.

I'm going to vote GOP and hope that Fred serves in the next administration.
After watching the O & O show from SC today, I fear for our nation.

Won’t vote for Rudy or MCain, no point in voting for the huckster. No way the country will elect a minister to be president. I might be able to hold my nose long enough to vote for Romney. It’s Fred or Hunter. I won’t be part of the team that sets the Republican template for victory to be picking this biggest RINO we can find. If we do, the republican party will doomed for the rest of my adult life. I want to stop that RIGHT NOW! And if it means losing in the general, so be it. I want my screaming liberal president to have a D attached to their name, not a R, that I voted for

“Its contingent upon what YOUR vote means to YOU. If supporting conservative values is important why would you waste it on a liberal in Rino cloth like Rudy?(example, not saying hes your man).”
Worst case scenario- Because Rudy is still better than ANY of the dem alternatives.
“If it takes the complete destruction of the republican party as a viable political force to create a truly conservative party then so be it. The status quo is unacceptable in the long term.”
If you are saying that it’s better that America suffer at the hands of lib control so that we can have a “truly conservative party” then I must disagree with you. That’s a little too much “the end justifies the means” for me.

There ain't gonna be no third party candidacy of any consequence in 2008. I say that as someone whose been involved in the legal side (getting on the ballot) than most FReepers realize even took place. McCarthy, Anderson, and more than 20 others. It is too late, even for somebody like Bloomberg with more money than brains, to mount a third-party effort now for 2008.
You're gonna have two choices. You may not like either of them, but you're only gonna have two. Time to get real,

ROFL! He's come out and says something intelligent regarding illegals...much to your dismay.
Then, he skyrockets to the head of the pack, and you STILL think your opinion on illegal immigration is the correct one?
??? Hello! Anybody home?
IMO, you're going to see all the front-runners like Hillary imitating Huckabee's position on illegal immigration.

I will not support Rudy or McCain under any circumstances. Huckabee is getting pretty damn close to them. And Romney isn’t far behind. But Romney I might be able to hold my nose for.

But if it is Roodi the Rino, do we or don't we back him, if for no other reason than to avoid giving the Perot effect, defacto votes to Hillary? It truly would be the rock and the hard place, but a Rino is better than the socialist Hillary, no?
I have heard some say they would just opt out if it's Rudy vs a dem, but Hillary in office is not quite the same as Silky Pony or Obama, she has aspirations, 'that look in her eye', that some of the other dems don't necessarily seem to have. Pretty much any Rino would be better. Ron Paul aside - that would be the true conundrum for me.

>>>>I like Rudy. I like Fred. I like Huckabee.Around FR, Fred`s the true conservative. Being a liberal, Rooty doesn't even count and IMO, the Huckster is a lost soul on most issues. You open borders types are pathetic.
