LOL
A good & powerful leader knows the cost incurred by his requests, great and petty. Rudy obviously wasn’t concerned with this. He was willing to engage in extremely private activities that meant a lot of people would know and would be obligated to cover not just the activity and the principal, but also every action of everyone on a highly regulated and publicly monitored team. This bodes ill for a prospective leader of the free world.
Consider & compare Gore, guru of environmental protection, jetting his entire entourage around the world to attend the Bali summit (among hundreds of other such trips), thinking he can whisk away any contradictions by verbally authorizing “carbon credits”.
Contrast these yahoos with Bush, Regan, and others who were extremely aware & respectful of their security detail.
A good leader realizes he, too, is merely one of the people - entrusted with the care of others.
Having done the protection detail, I can agree that much can be learned about their actions in secret. I gained a tremendous respect for my protectee when I was able to witness and an entire, week, month, year with all of the good and bads lumped together. I saw the opportunities offered that were simply and politely rebuffed.
I saw it was show for others, but I had the honor to serve and witness a person of integrity. I had questions about Rudy over some of his social stands. He was a great Federal Prosecutor, but his moral compass points south in some areas and putting his security detail in that position speaks very poorly of his choice. These people are not royalty, and when they start to expect to be treated like such, then it is time to sit them down.
“This was all based on threat assessments by the New York city police department, all based on their analysis to protect her life, my life, other people’s lives,” Giuliani said. “They made the choice. My wife Judith would honestly prefer not to have security.”
Wasn’t the police department under the control of his appointed commisioner, Bernard Kerik?
When will Bernie roll?
Almost a half million in bogus charges and only Kerick gets thrown under the subway? Rudy911 sure knows how to cover himself.
Of course if this was all legitimate and if it was really the NYPD’s decision, then why did they try to hide the expense in several different city agencies? Why not just bill it all to the NYPD’s budget as personal protection?
See what I wrote in #26.
Yes - and now who was found to have questionable connections of whom Rudy911 says he wish he'd been more diligent in scrutinizing?
Bill Clinton (ref. Monica) apology speech -- "Presidents have a right to a personal life too".
Rudy Giuliani, (ref. his mistress) --"Mayors have a right to a personal life too".
Interesting.
Maybe Rudy needs to be asked publicly, “If you tire of your current wife when you are President, what sort of security detail would the taxpayers need to pay for your then misstress(es)?”
Our mayor here in L.A. was doing the #1 Spanish language infobabe — the very one who went on the air and announced that the Mayor was leaving his wife, and a few weeks later confirmed that the mayor was indeed having an affair. She then lost her job and has since dumped him. Povracito mayor...
The only difference between the two is that the Clintons stay married for political reasons.
Hmmm ... maybe just 20 years ago voters would be astounded at a public figure openly admitting a mistress.
Waike up ammmmeeeericaaaaa
The huckster got one thing right ... he called homosexuality what it really is
Exactly!!
No one benefits more from the "CLINTON VACCINE" (personal life, conduct and character no longer matter) than Rudy. No one. Rudy owes Clinton BIG TIME for that one.
