It will be interesting to see what kind of play these shootings get.

If it's really an AR-15 rather than an M-16, which look just alike until you get really close, then expect the nature of the victims to be discounted, but the nature of the weapon to be highlighted, trumpeted and otherwise blared about.

They've got a new Ugly Gun ban bill just waiting in committee for incidents like this and the Omaha mall shootings. Actually several bils. HR 1022, would ban far more arms than the original. H.R. 1859 would ban regular capacity magazines, and transfer of any Assault weapon, as previously defined, equiped with one. H.R. 256 would ban possession of handguns and S.A.W by those under 21, (exception for military and police of course). S 2237 is a big omibus crime bill, which contains both and AW ban (appears to be like the '94 version) and a strengthening of the Brady Check system to require checks at gun shows, regardless of the seller. HR 4128 appears to be a complete rewrite of the federal criminal code, lots of bad stuff could be lurking in there. Sponsor is Rep Sensenbrenner, F. James, Jr. (R-WI-5), so maybe not.

BOHICA!

Thanks for the comments. I’m sure there are many gun bills just waiting for the inappropriate time to unleash.
