One of the friends of the shooter in the Omaha mall shooting talked about them playing “first shooter” video games.

I don’t remember things like this happening when I was a kid...of course, there are many things happening now that didn’t happen then! But, it is difficult to believe that someone could just decide to do something like this “out of the blue” with no provocation from the victims.

Not to sound like a pessimist or anything, but I think there are only going to be more and more of these happening.

How many mass shootings did we have before Columbine versus after it.

They did, though. Been happening since Cain and Abel.

I'm sure the friend meant "first person shooter". I happen to play them often, myself, but am not inclined to murder. Correlation does not equal causation.

The games don't make someone want to shoot people in real life. Maybe they're good training material, but the people who actually go on these rampages have other problems.

We need to make sure that young people and teenagers can draw the line between fantasy and reality. I was playing Halo this morning but when I switch off the game, the game ends. It doesn't carry over into real life. With some of these young shooters, I'm not sure if they're halfway in a game or just totally disgusted with their lives. Maybe both.

I love first-person tactical shooter games and I don’t have homicidal thoughts.

We didn't hear about them so much, or so quickly at any rate. No CNN, no Fox, etc. No internet either, linking to what would have been a local or regioinal story in the "old days"

Remember Charlie Starkweather?

Meant to add, Miss Kathryn says “hi”. I was holding her when I started that post, but a rather massive BM interrupted. :)

“But, it is difficult to believe that someone could just decide to do something like this “out of the blue” with no provocation from the victims.”

Welcome to the old concept of “evil”. Suffering of the innocent is just one of many aspects of “evil”.

As for provocation, they were ‘Christian’, and that is enough for any and all Muslims to be able to justify either enslaving or killing them.

Islam is both antithetical to, and irreconcilable with, any and all other faiths. That includes the historical incessant warfare between Sufi and Sunni Muslims.

ISLAM DELENDA EST - America’s version of Cato’s famous speech to the Roman Senate.

After all
