Newt says that Mrs. Clinton has underperformed in ways that have surprised him (and delighted me).

Thank you ... I truly fear for this country with
the EvilShe and her “partner” in the mix, but
if America is going to now go backward centuries
to the very grim times of religious intolerance
and mindless prejudice in choosing presidential
candidates based on a religious litmus test ..
we have really serious problems.
I pray for our country.

I think Newt is trying to regain ground lost with Conservatives after his health care love fest with the queen.

Thats because Harry Reid hides his religious views and supports forcing everyone in this nation to have to do the same. The media will allow u to be as religious as u want as long as u do it in secret.

Wow I read up a little on Lt. Col Russell what a great American!!
If he can't beat Murtha no one can. Should be a great show tonight HC! I will try and make it.

Here the problem too many of us are having. We are confusing Free Republic as being representative of the public at large. It isn't. It is easy to sit around a website and chant doctrine to each other and come to a consensus. Unfortunately out in the real world things are looking a lot different.
If the polling data on the campaign is accurate, granted that is a big IF, it appears that outside of the true believer’s bubble world, not a whole lot of people seems to be placing illegal immigration all that high on their criteria of what they want out of a 2008 candidate.
If Illegal Immigration were the end all be all issue for average people, as some of you keep claiming, Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter would be the walk away nominee for the Republicans in 2008.
Given how well the weak on immigration candidates like McCain and Huckabee are doing it would seem to indicate that while upset about Illegals, a goodly portion of voters do not rank it as one of their top issue. They seem more then willing to accept very weak on Immigration candidates because those candidate are saying the right things on their other issues.

yeah Newt is trying to backtrack.
To: kabar
Well I can see this discussion is going no where. Let try a different approach.
Fred got the Pro Life Endorsement. His poll number have stayed flat. Huckabee is surging. Why do you think Huckabee is surging given how weak a canidate he is on a bunch of issues?

Frankly, I thought what we saw today folks was a Republican candidate for President giving an inspiring speech. . And of course, as usual, Rush is right.

I'm sure Hillary is begging to be on with Mr. Potato Head for the full hour! ;-) I'd like to see it just to see the difference in the questioning compared to today...

u may be right. but i think the illegal license issue in New York showed that u may be wrong.

Biden probably “has” read the NIE but truth is seldom a criteria for Rat candidates.

That's why he's not my #1. I'll support your guy in the general, if you'll support Rudy if he's our nominee, which it sounds like you may not. I'll hold my nose, too, for McCain or Huckster, but I'll vote for 'em.Sorry, I can't vote for Rudy, McCain, or Huckabee as a matter of principle. I will vote a straighht GOP ticket [as always] just leave the top spot blank. I can't vote for any candidate who supports legalizing the stautus of the 13 to 20 million illegal aliens who are here. It is an issue that transcends partisan politics and involves the survival of this country as we know it.
It this contributes to the victory of Hillary or Obama, so be it. I would rather have the Dems be the ones to be blamed for this horrendous mistake than have the GOP be identified with it. I have never been a one issue voter, but there is a first time for everything.
