I don’t think there’s time now to look for the perfect candidate. What Mitt said about religion satisfied me.
I know Mormonism is off the wall, but I like Mitt Romney compared to the other candidates, and this upcoming election is going to be choosing the least of the evils. That’s probably what most elections have been about.
Read the article on this phenomena (in the context of the present campaign and Mormonism) in the latest NRO. The article is called Rational Questions by Jason Lee Steorts. It is an excellent article.

If the GOP is going to be a big tent, I think we will all have to show a little of this kind of perspective on these matters.
I once had a Quantum Mechanics professor who, in order to prepare the students for a bizarre description of the world that nevertheless seemed to make sense of it, said, “We don’t really learn anything. We just get used to it.” QM didn’t make sense, but it was incredibly successful. I think sometimes religion is that way. We get used to our own, but the other person’s seems bizarre. So we would do well not to be too quick to judge others.
Just WHAT did he say about HIS religion?
All I heard was words about 'religion' in general in the USoA.
I like Mitt, too, but he is in fact very LIBERAL on a lot of his ideas.
I really wish I had said that before you did. :) Mormonism is, indeed, off the wall, and I do not really comprehend how Mr. Romney could believe the “extraneous” stuff. However, if it comes down to him and any other Democrat (aka Commie/Liberal/Socialist), no question Romney will get my vote. Because every election is choosing the lesser of two evils, whether we like it or not.
