John Kerry Weighs in on NFL Network Dispute
AOL Sports ^ | December 7, 2007 | Michael David Smith

You know you've got a serious issue on your hands when U.S. Sen. John Kerry writes a strongly worded letter about it.

With the real possibility that the New England Patriots (who play in Kerry's state, Massachusetts) could complete the first 16-0 season in NFL history on a channel most people don't get, Kerry sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and National Cable & Telecommunications Association President and CEO Kyle McSlarrow. It read, in part:

While the National Football League and a few major cable companies continue to blame each other for the current state of NFL Network carriage, too many American football fans are being held hostage.

We’ll never know for sure unless he signs the 180. So far, all we have is recollections seared into his mind, but how much written evidence is there?

Jon Carry was on a secret mission in Cambodia for President Nixon before he was actually president or the CIA, Christmas 1968, seared! Seared in his memory, it was.

After listening to Bryant Gumbel for 3 hours on Thanksgiving I figure I can do without NFL Networks.

I guess the Pittsburgh Steelers might as well not show up on Sunday ..... John Kerry has already decided they will lose.

Jon long-face Carry is rumored to have served in the U.S. Senate, but since there is no legislation attributed to hiim, it is felt this is probably only an unsubstantiated rumor.

We will continue to investigate the matter, of course ...

Hey John Kerry - did you ever sign that form to release all your Viet-Nam service records?

Well at least Kerry and I have something in common ... he’s a football fan.
The Patriots aren’t my team, I’m a Bronco fan first and foremost (season tickets for 30 years) and then a Bengals fan.
Yeah, I know, I can sure pick a winner.

One of the nice things about the NFL Network channel is there’s no Bryant Gumbel.

One of the bad things is...it’s the same 2 hours of programming on a loop per 24 hours. Makes great background noise when on the computer though.

His service record was sanitized by Jimmah Cahtah. It doesn’t matter what he has released or who looked at it.

I heard that. Same goes for Keith Olberman and Bob Costas. I switched the channel over to NBC and saw those two chuckleheads doing football commentary. I couldn’t change the channel fast enough.
