At the first sign of contamination, these companies must be sued so harshly that they come to their senses and realize working with China is not financially in their best interest.

“Lead? What about Alar? That stuff is like plutonium maybe worse!”

Alar is mild compared to the pesticides, herbicides and fungicides used in apple orchards.

I am with you on the need for local supply.

I am really shocked that this Chineese food/poison is not a campaign issue.

Here is an experiment I did.

I threw out some leftover store bought bread for the birds...they would not touch it.

I threw out a the remains of a loaf I made...the birds went crazy tearing it apart to eat it.

I think it is the preservatives.

Can you answer this question...

I hear that if you eat honey made right near where you live, then you will have less allergies to the things around you....have you heard this?

I want to get a hive but I think the houses are too close to gether here. Intend to check with the town.

The idea that your allergies can be lessened by consuming local honey is widespread. I do not know the origin of the idea other than the holistic idea that ‘whatever ails you in small quantities will cure you.’ Some of my customers swear by it and some testimony seems to corroborate their ideas. Personally, I do not deal in anything unless I can substantiate it with facts. That said, honey is amazing stuff and I don’t rule anything out...

If you get a package of bees, get at least two. The reason is that: 1) You’ll have a basis for comparison and, 2) You’ll need a colony with a healthy queen to supply fresh eggs in case your other colony isn’t queen-right.

Finally, if you do wish to take up beekeeping, please find, and attend, your closest local beekeeping association meetings. These people will help you through the bumps of beginning and the serious nature of today’s beekeeping.

Good luck, FRiend!

Children can grow up without apple juice. Save your money vy not buying this sugary import, and have your children eat apples grown in the USA. We still have plenty of those, and it’s much better for their teeth.

You are exactly right. Eating fruit is far better for you than drinking fruit juice. And fresh produce is labeled with country of origin.

Kids would be better off drinking water that sticky sweet fruit juice.

‘whatever ails you in small quantities will cure you.’

actually, I would feel much better if the leftist messages came in much, much smaller and quieter quantities.

But as it is, they are ubiquitous and loud. So they can rest assured that I will never be cured. lol

When dealing with a food product labeled as made in china, ask yourself one simple question.

Can I live without it.

If yes, put product back on the shelf and walk away.

If no, purchase product, then make certain both your last will and testament as well as your insurance are current before ingesting.

There you go, American Made all the way.

If you can’t find American Made products at your favorite store, complain to the management.

It might just make the difference.

We are insane to be buying anything from China. I guess we will stupidly let them put our apple growers out of business.

I try to buy what I know is American. Can’t wait for the labeling to kick in next year, as to where it comes from.

Is there nothing from China that is not contaminated ?

Do we import lead from China? Would it be contaminated with baby food or the occasional toy?

Its hard for me to believe that we need any foodstuff from China. I shopped for apples today and had a choice of Oregon, Washington and Missouri fruit.

I noticed Mott's statement about using China and Argentine apples on the side of their cartons months ago. I couldn't believe it.

I try to only buy foodstufs that list where it was produced. Unbelievably, this leaves out frozen food and most (all?) beef.

Over the years, I’ve been ridiculed (though not by my husband, who supports me) for paying more for “organic” products from the United States and/or Canada.
I don’t really do it because it is organic, per se, but because I know exactly where it comes from and know that American grown products have more oversight than Chinese stuff.
I know it isn’t perfect, but until something better comes along, I’ll continue to purchase organic from North America.
