Montana National Guard (Help!)

I joined the MT National Guard last month.
I was supposed to drill tomorrow, but they changed it for me to tonight.
I just got my uniforms 10 minutes ago.
The patches were rubber-banded together. I'm not sure which patch goes where.
I have two for my last name and 1 that says "US Army"
I also have a circular, which looks something like a sunburst over a mountain top. I'm not sure though and as far as I can tell it could be up-side down.
I don't want to look like a dork!
Can anyone help me?

Velcro has its advantages. :-) I like it, but it doesn't 100% sense tactically. You know, you are sneaking up on someone in the darkness, you are about to choke him out, then - your Velcro snags on a branch. So much for being covert.
I have never touched an iron since I joined, don't have to work abut getting stuff sown on my combat uniform (only my Class A's). I like it that way!

Perhaps I am mistaken, but I believe Non-Sequitir’s comment was tounge-in-cheek. At least that’s how I took it.
If not, then you are correct. Bear Slayer is among America’s bravest and should be saluted.

You should get a ribbon for signing up during a time of war. Wear it proudly. I assume by your handle you will have no problem qualifying as a marksman. Wear that proudly also.

Be sure to ask for the US Flag patch because that is part of the uniform stateside as well as OCONUS. It will look reversed andgoes on the right pocket flap, when you get it.

It doesn’t really matter because with all the gear we have to wear you aren’t sneaking up on anyone!

Negative.
I was US Navy 18 years ago and spent most of that with the USMC, but I have never been to Army bot camp or WTC.

“Have civilians do the non-militaristic work in garrison.”
That is the direction the Army is moving towards.
I’m surprized a little bit though. Right now Army Times reports that the Army is looking through the Active ranks to find persons who have yet to deploy. Basically only TRADDOC types are kept from deployment. I think you will get your chance.
I just hope you get to deploy as MI and not “convoy escort.” I’ve watched them deploy so many combat support and combat service support units to do essentially MP duties. Of course, someone has to do it.

You must have been a Corpsman? One of my coworkers is a retired Master Chief Corpsman who spent most of his career on submarines, but did pull some time with the Marines.

Hey, don’t feel too bad if you get it wrong. My husband is a CW2 and we recently went to an Officers Ball where they were required to wear dress mess. (sp). He noticed that a female cpt was wearing her insignia wrong and quietly and very respectfully informed her so that she would not embarrass herself. A quick trip to the latrine and she had rectified the situation.
All this to say that even the officers mess up some times.
Good luck tomorrow and Thanks for your service.

Hey, there are only so many of us to go around! I’m really surprised to hear of an MI unit NOT deploying. Civil Affairs, MP, and Psyops seem to be getting the heaviest rotations outside of combat arms.

Take along some duct tape with you just in case you need to reposition any of your patches when you get there.......
