At a news conference that just wrapped up, Fred Thompson was asked what he thought of Mike Huckabee drawing a blank when asked about recent reports about the National Intelligence Estimate re: Iran.
"Not only is Iran the major long-term threat to our country, the nuclear program is the most important part of the Iran consideration. For a presidential candidate not to know that and not to keep up with that is very suprising," said Thompson.
"These are the kinds of things I've been talking about all of my life. Now, if the American people have other priorities, if they want someone who smiles a lot more than I do, or someone who is a better quipster than I am, who has no experience in these areas, that's for the American people to decide."
Thompson is now en route to Davenport, Iowa.
LOL. Slap the lib.

Now THAT is a sound bite!!
“Speak no ill of another Republican” - Reagan’s law
Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t a candidate need at leat 15% of the vote in Iowa. If he doens’t make the cut then his supporters can change their vote.
I hope Fred makes the cut-off as I can easily see him being the #2 vote for many of the other guys (especially Tancredo and Hunter). But that’s only about 2% so he’d need one of the other top guys to miss the mark and have his supporters go for him.
He didn’t speak ill of him. He complemented his smile and quick wit. And even says if thats what’s important to you to go ahead and vote for him.
Fred can’t help it that Huck doesn’t know what’s going on with Iran...Huck has to take care of that.
I guess Thompson got a “zinger” on Huckabee, but he’s been making these type statements for the last few weeks and his numbers have kept going down and Huckabee’s have kept going up.
The huckster is a liberal rino, so it doesn't apply anyway, besides Reagan didn't seem to draw back from taking on Ford did he?
Go Fred!
Hey, somebody has to do it. I realize Huckabee did not need to pay much attention to little things like national security and foreign policy issues while he was Governor of Arkansas and he could delete those news items from his daily news summary. But he wants to be leader of the free world now. Jokes won’t cut it on issues like this one.
From the man who tried to unseat Gerry Ford with some very unkind words.
Well golly, here I go breaking it.
Rudy is a pr**k.
Romney is a phoney.
Huckabee is a pro-life liberal.
McCain is crazy.
Out of those three, I’d go with the crazy guy.
In that vein when we speak ill of Huckabee, we are covered. He is a Republican, but not a Conservative.
I count 4 not three.
Oops!
I must be crazy too!

“Don’t be hard on Huckabee. He should not be expected to know minutia such as this.”
If no one takes on Huckabee, he will waltz to the nomination without anyone even knowing who and what he is. I’m for the voter being informed of the differences between the candidates. They won't cover Fred on issues of real substance, and an honest comment concerning an opponent at least gets him in the news and gets him noticed.
Reagan challenged ford and I’m certain didn’t refrain from commentary on hi opponent. He also left the Democrat party, so who knows what he would make of a flaming Lib like Huck who’s only redeeming grace is that he is socially conservative.
I wont be supporting this guy, and I suspect if enough voters are so foolish to believe Christian = Conservative and nominate him? They’ll have buyer’s remorse.
The sole positive in Huck’s rise is that as much as i dislike him, I know he’s causing the elites in the party fits. Not because he’s not liberal enough for them, but because they can’t tolerate Christians in the party and Huck’s quick rise gives testimony to the fact Christians haven’t appreciated Rudy being shoved down their throats and are retaliating. The elites deserve their heartburn.
Unfortunately, conservatives down on the ground do not.
