Theofilos III JERUSALEM The man enthroned here as Greek Orthodox patriarch has been asked by church leaders to cancel the sale to Jewish groups of land comprising much of a key entrance to Jerusalem's Old City, a church official told WND yesterday.
"The deal must be canceled and Theofilos knows this. We as a church will fight any smuggling of real estate to Jewish organizations," Atallah Hanna, the church's archbishop of Sebastia, told WND in an interview.
Ownership of the land in question two hotels that comprise a large section of the Jaffa Gate, the principal entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem could be crucial in the future status of Jerusalem during upcoming Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.
Following last month's U.S.-backed Annapolis summit, Israel is widely expected to evacuate eastern Jerusalem neighborhoods for the creation of an eventual Palestinian state. Previous U.S.-backed proposals have allotted Jewish-owned sections of Jerusalem to Israel and Arab-occupied real estate to the Palestinians.
The question of the ownership of the Jaffa Gate properties is at the center of a debate in Israel regarding whether to recognize Theofilos III, elected patriarch in 2005 amid charges of church irregularities. Theofilos also has been quoted by church officials as opposing the sale of Jerusalem property to Jews.

“All right, we’ll give some land to the Jews, but not the Irish!”
And G-d is saying ... hmmm, Yashua, are you about ready to go back?????
It is going to be real interesting to hear these people explain to G-d why they did the things to the Jews that they’ve done ... from the begining when the Hebrews crossed over ...

OK, if we are canceling sales, can we cancel the sale of Jerusalem to the Arabs? Oh wait, they didn’t buy it, they killed the people who lived there and took it. Never mind.
Restricted neighborhood, huh?
Yes, but Jews were always around in the area. Then, it was part of Byzantium. Then the Arabs. Then the Turks. Fact is, the Jews took it from those who lived there before them. Modern warfare means that if friends of the left win, it is theirs forever. If Jews or Americans win, they have to give it back.
I’ll start getting outraged when the Jewish Agency removes its “no land sales to Gentiles” contractual riders on its real estate titles.
I agree - wasn’t it the Caananites? Way back when the Jews became the chosen ones (chosen because no other peoples would listen to G-d, that’s why they were “chosen” because they did) - anyway, Hebrew means “they who crossed over” which was the river separating where they came from into what is now Israel ....
Basically, they Greek clergy are as much prisoners of intimidation as every other west bank Christian. That’s why the then-Patriarch endorsed Sadaam Hussein. And never complained to the police when muslims spray-painted islamic (and anti-Christian) slogans all over the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. (Imagine
the fuss that would result if anti-islamic slogans were spray-painted on the Dome of the Rock. )
Some of them are anti-semitic; some of them are Arabs and pro-PLO; but I think most of them just think silence is the better part of valor. . .
I guess because of where he is and who’s around him ... too true ...
Well, God gave them the land long ago. Allowing them to purchase it back now, is definately the right thing to do. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to study their Bible.
“Modern warfare means that if friends of the left win, it is theirs forever.
If Jews or Americans win, they have to give it back.”
Not to hijack this thread, but when I read your thought in regards to Israel, this also applies to lefty thinking about the illegals from mexico. So very true!!!
It's called the ratchet principle. Just like a ratchet wrench, society is only allowed to move in one direction, it can't reassess and go back to a better way.
