It is vastly more important to receive an answer from the Holy Ghost, instead of mere words from a book, since the Holy Ghost gives a firm conviction of the truth of the gospel

It said, in Acts chapter 17 verse 11:

 

 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

 

 

The Bereans looked at MERE WORDS IN A BOOK; so, according to this, your statement is highly suspect.
