Nevermind. It’s the “Executive Branch,” not the “Legislative.”

Our company asked for volunteers to work so the majority could have off. I volunteered. It will be quiet and I can wear my jammies if I want to! lol Then I get an extra 8 hours to take another time. :)

That was extremly nice of you. Plus I love to work when nobody is there to bother you. Plus as a bonus you get a day off when everyone is there. God Bless you!!!

We, the “little people”, have to work that day. Who else is going to pay the “chosen ones” their outrageous salaries? Give me a break. I’m so disgusted anymore with Washington. Fat a$$ hogs living off the scraps of the “little people”. Their day of reckoning will come someday and not too soon.

What is your occupation? Plus chosen ones? Anybody can work for the federal government. You just have to apply and get hired.

I liked Reagan, but it was him that gave us (some of us) another day off - MLK Day.

And every MLK Day I thank Reagan for being able to sleep in. What is wrong with you? You seem very bitter. Were you turned away from the military or worse kicked out? Did you aply for a government job and they did not chose you? You cannot be this upset over a day off for goodness sake. Remember they are still giving money to study the mitsi fly...that is what you should be upset about.

“Fat a$$ hogs living off the scraps of the “little people”. “

They are not all fat hogs in Washington, lots of conservative military and ex-military working for DoD. Problem is that contractors can’t come in for work and have to take an unpaid leave day probably.

You are WRONG as I have always worked on 12/24 unless it fell on a weekend or I take a vacation day as I am doing again this year. I only know of about 25% of my friends or acquaintances that have off on 12/24.

We get 10 days, but 12/24 is not one of them.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & MAY GOD BLESS YOU!

Of course not. The USPS is not part of the government.

Well...USPS is legally defined as an "independent establishment of the executive branch of the Government of the United States," (39 U.S.C. § 201) and is wholly owned by the government and controlled by Presidential appointees and the Postmaster General. As a quasi-governmental agency, it has many special privileges, including sovereign immunity, eminent domain powers, powers to negotiate postal treaties with foreign nations, and an exclusive legal right to deliver first-class and third-class mail. (from wikipedia)

I am a federal employee and I am indeed rejoicing! I work part time, Mondays and Fridays only, and it was going to be very tough to work on Christmas Eve—I have 4 children, we have church to go to, and a slew of people over for standing rib roast that evening, and a have an 1.5 hour commute one way, and my boss was not going to give me permission to take the day off—

So, yippee! My boss’s boss’s boss’s boss=George Bush and I get the day off!

Merry Christmas!

Your story was so emotionally touching, I switched my voter registration to Democrat!
Free tax money for everyone! Who's with me?

When you went into the medical profession didn’t you realize that people sometimes get sick on holidays? It wouldn’t surprise me to find out that on rare occasions they may even get sick on weekends.
