He did a fabulous job on this speech. I heard he wrote it himself...and in everything I have seen he has done a fabulous job handling himself with professionalism. He will probably get my vote!

Governor Romney gave a good speech. I can only imagine it helped him as he, as usual, presented himself very well. But what can’t be good was what followed (and if others saw it and acted as I did). As the newscaster on the network I was watching was making his comments, I was distracted by a person who was carrying a large sign which read: Joesephlied.com. Being the curious sort that I am, I checked it out. Yikes!

I’ll echo your comments. I’m not lined up behind anybody yet. I have things I like about all of them.

This was a good speech, delivered well. He could be President and I’d be OK with that.

I have some serious problems with Mormonism itself, but it’s hard to deny that as individuals Mormons really do walk the talk. If it is by their fruit that we should know them, well, the Mormons truly have cornered the market on living a life that proves a good witness of their faith. Dang, if only they didn’t believe some of those really goofy things. :-)

But that’s a different question, and I see nothing disqualifying about being Mormon and being President.

My problem with Romney is not his religious beliefs. I don’t trust him. He speaks like a conservative but many of his past actions suggest he is a RINO.!

I know a few mormons and whilst I do not agree with the theology they are the most open and hospitable people I know. If you even go to there house at some ungodly hour they will wake up and make you coffee if you need it. Always kind and patient, if I could be like that I would be much better.

The only firm decision I’ve made - aside from not voting Democrat - is that I absolutely will NOT give my vote to Rudy. I kinda like Fred Thompson because he’s avoided the religion thing pretty adroitly. I am a Christian believer myself, but advertising that fact for business or political reasons offends me.

I’m an Orthodox Christian, and I was blown away by this speech. After struggling with which of our great candidates to support, I think I’ve found my man.

Whil I disagree with his theology, I think he can unify the country better than any other candidate out there.

Bulls Eye!

Good lead Mitt! I could vote for him. But then my primary is still months away. So I’m not going to declare now, No, wouldn’t be prudent.

Rush came ‘thisclose’ to breaking his own rule about primary season endorsements after seeing the speech. You could almost hear his internal argument about it.

Great speech! How refreshing to hear something so straight-forward. I admire his courage and his convictions.

Yeah I could tell Rush was fired up about it - defending Romney and lightly chastising the Evangelicals that are mistreating Romney because of his religion, when Evangelicals themselves get constantly mistreated by the MSM & liberals because of their religion.

Wonderful speech. I’m still on the fence, but Romney said exactly what needed to be said, so I give him kudos for that.

I believe that for most voters, except the very fervent, religion is not a major issue in choosing political candidates. If a political candidate adhere’s to our Constitution and acts as a true statesman, religion should be a non-issue.
In that respect, President Bush has acted very Presidential and gentlemanly to a fault. For that he has been severaly criticized, maligned and accused of the worse acts imaginable, all under the guise of “it’s politics”.
When there is a lot of static in the air, the tallest will attract a lot of lightening strikes. Many fail to recognize what leadership is and what part religion plays in it.

I agree with you up to a point. I think there is a cultural mindset which would make it impossible for a person of other than Judeo-Christian beliefs to adhere to our Constitution. I don’t know enough about Mormonism to say anything about it one way or the other. I do know enough, however, about those “tolerant Democrats” to feel confident in my prediction about what they’ll make of Mormonism should Romney become the nominee.

Dimocraps will take any issue the polls say would support their cause. I fully suspect, especially after Romney’s speech on the subject today, that Mormanism will not be a deciding factor in the election of the next President.
I am not a Romney supporter but not because he happens to be a Mormon.

Yeah, I think he made a good speech but I am surprised how many people are thrilled about it including Rush. I think people need to do a little homework first on what the LDS believe before making their decisions. For example how many people know what LDS Eschatology entails? Who is a gentile in the LDS church and what rights that give the LDS?

May start here....http://www.waltermartin.org

Mitt demostrates the authority and leadership that we seek in a President. Most impressive.

I suggest that people learn from the source what LDS doctrine really is. Go to www.lds.org or to www.mormon.org.
