90%+ of the population pays its own premiums.
Yes, the state subsidizes insurance, on a sliding scale, for poor people, but it does so out of funds that were previously used to reimburse emergency rooms for uninsured patients who would skip out without paying.
ALL the candidates have past statements and youtube clips they'd rather you not see or linger over. They've all "grown," "flip-flopped," "evolved," "learned from prior mistakes" etc. For every youtube clip on Mitt there are two more on Fred, Rudy, Huck, McCain etc....
The point is who is the most conservative candidate who can stop the much more liberal Huck and Rudy and beat Hillary? The answer is Mitt.
Rush just said that Mitt was speaking to AMERICANS and that he hit a bull’s eye.
Rush agreed with you, he loved the speech.
Rush says that some so called conservative web sites are critical of the speech for not being inclusive of atheists and agnostics. I wonder what sites that he is talking about.
Christ is the only way to God. You cant have the Father if you dont have the Son. Muslims dont believe in the divinity of Christ. If Mitt believes the former, how can he say the latter?
Hes trying to please man, rather than God."
His point of the speech was not to be Theologically accurate to the bible, his speech was not to promote any Theology or faith. His speech did show that he does have a good understanding of the 1st Amendment that says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof:"
So if he made some comments about Muslims that does not line up with biblical doctrine or truth, well that would be beside the point of this particular issue. I want a President that will protect the freedom of religion that belongs to Muslims, Christians, Mormans, your beliefs, mine, and all US Citizens.
Romney did a good job expressing his understanding of freedom of religion, and as a President, that is important.
I wish he had a good understanding of the 2nd Amendment like he does the 1st.
It's in the "a" where LDS parts theologically from Protestants and Catholics. That and we humans becoming new gods.
I wouldn't vote against someone just because they're LDS, but I think Romney tries here, like many LDS, to diffuse the differences - they are quite stark in actuality.
I wonder who President Bush supports? Hmmmmm”
You obviously missed the introduction by former President Bush. Helps not to take things out of context.
It's not *my* belief. It's scripture.
Matthew 11:27b - "and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."
John 5:22-24 - "The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
John 6:40 - "For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day."
No one - NO ONE goes to the Father except through the Son, Jesus Christ.
>>God loves us, all of us,<<
Not exactly:
Psalm 11:5 - "The LORD tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence."
John 3:18-19 - "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light becausetheir works were evil.
>>who havent had the opportunity to learn about Him<<
Men's conscience bears witness to belief in God, but because of sin, he suppresses the truth. Ignorance is no excuse.
Romans 1:18-20 - "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
2 Thess 1:5-10 - "This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering 6since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.
Acts 17:30-31 - "The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead."
Of course He is a God.
He is the ONLY God, and He is the ONLY way to the Father.
I don’t know about online video, but chances are that C-Span will repeat at least once.
And, FoxNews should have video up later.
Another thought: it may appear on YouTube.
FReeper “Enough Idiocy” has posted the full transcript in post #10.
Larry.... is that you?
Nothing at all, which is why I can support Romney.
I believe that every faith I have encountered draws its adherents closer to God. And in every faith I have come to know, there are features I wish were in my own: I love the profound ceremony of the Catholic Mass, the approachability of God in the prayers of the Evangelicals, the tenderness of spirit among the Pentecostals, the confident independence of the Lutherans, the ancient traditions of the Jews, unchanged through the ages, and the commitment to frequent prayer of the Muslims.
Muslims do not worship God. They are a cult religion that worships an idol.
why not level that charge against most of the other candidates as well?
I do. I ceased calling GWB a Christian when he said (at a White House Ramadan dinner) that Christians and Muslims worship the same God, and that people get to heaven by many roads. Such statements are 100% contrary to Scripture.
>>Newsflash: this is the United States of America.<<
So that absolves a believer from standing firm in his faith, and refusing to compromise?
Mitt was referring to the ‘commitment’ to prayer.
You can support whomever you choose, but there is no religious test for POTUS. That’s America.
Nice turn of phrase Phil!!
If you want to pick a candidate who agrees with your views on religion, you are free to do so. You know that, don’t you?
For myself, it is a minor issue.
Fred Thompson worked for the Campaign Finance Reform legislation, along with McCain. Lately, FT says maybe it was not a good idea. Do you call that flip-flopping?
“Yes - on one policy issue.”
LOL!! and you expect to be taken seriously?
I wanted to add one more thing, regarding the lost and their ability to discourse with the Father:
Proverbs 15:8 - “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.”
The lost cannot discourse with God unless they approach through the intercessory blood of Christ. If they’re approaching through Christ, then they’re not lost.
Sin separates the lost from God, and only Christ bridges the gap. Without Christ, there is no communication between God and the sinner.
Romans 3:10ff states that there are NONE righteous, and NONE who seek after God. He is perfect, and we are fallen - only through Christ’s righteousness can we approach the Father.
