“Am I ever glad that I escaped from this hell-hole!”
Virginia’s a heck of a lot nicer place to live than a lot of others.
As long as they agree to make public the addresses and phone numbers of every employee of this newspaper....
i’m jealous of your laws. my state is technically an open-carry state, but you’re just about guaranteed to be harrassed by cops if you do.
I think its a nice list of places not to go. Its always easier to go where people with guns ain’t.
Also, does anyone think the average smash and grab guy is reading the Roanoke Times?
Maybe they read it on the internet but they don’t subscribe.
First, no city or municipality within the state may enact any gun control measures that are more stringent than the Concealed Carry Law imposed by the State.
Second, no business (that is not covered in the State prohibitions) may have a "Thou Shalt Not Carry" provision unless they are set up and equipped to enforce it with metal detectors (so that all who enter are equally disarmed).
Third is not yet law (at least, so far as I've heard) but we are trying to put in place an Amendment to the Castle Doctrine so that it applies to one's property (not just inside the residence). I don't want to hurt anyone (let alone kill them) but I also don't want to have to retreat inside my home before I can legally defend myself from someone else who, as my Granddad used to say, "Isn't operating on all cylinders!"
I’m pretty sure the first applies in Tennessee. A lot of local governments would like to be able to disarm the citizens, but cannot.
I disagree with the notion of a permit being required, but I go along rather than go to jail.
My friend was carrying stuff into his friends apartment in a rough part of Boston when a kid with a sharpened ski pole tried to hold him up. (Yes, a sharpened ski pole)
My buddy has a C.W. Permit and drew his weapon and held him for the police.
My friend went into the house and put his gun on the table displayed with the magazine next to it and the slide back to show it was empty.
His CW Permit and his drivers license next to it.
The two cops started giving my buddy an earful. Calling him a vigilante, etc...
So I guess the lesson is, when they outlaw sharpened ski poles only outlaws will have sharpened ski poles.
When they start publishing the names, addresses and phone numbers of all those infected with HIV, AIDS, and other STD’s..is when I will listen to them.
typical cops. more concerned with harassing the guy with the legal firearm than with the kid who probably never got charged with assault with a deadly weapon, or attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.
I’m fine with this, just as soon as they publish the same information for everyone who has AIDS too.
Yup, my buddy was so mad but kept his cool.
He said, “Listen. I have a permit to legally carry that weapon. I was held up by a kid with a deadly weapon and you are giving me grief?”
I believe the kid walked with a slap on the wrist.
