I’m certain the iranians would never lie to our “intelligence” officers.

There's always the possibility that circumstances will change. But I think they've done the best job they can with the intelligence that's available," Cheney told Politico.com. I feel a tad better BIG DOG sort of signs off on the report.

...based mainly on notes acquired last summer from discussions between Iranian military officials, senior intelligence and government officials...Sure! They told the truth!
The sources quoted by the paper added that the Central Intelligence Agency and other agencies had looked into the possibility that the information obtained may have been part of an Iranian disinformation campaign, but eventually rejected that possibility.Nah, they wouldn't lie to us infidels.
I'd laugh but it's not funny any more.

Sources and Methods —
Seems to me that a couple of laws have been broken in just this one sentence....
(Of course, it *is* sourced to the NYT, which is de-facto “above the law”)

'High Confidence' Games The CIA's flip-flop on Iran is hardly reassuring. We wish we could be as sanguine, both about the quality of U.S. intelligence and its implications for U.S. diplomacy. For years, senior Administration officials, including Condoleezza Rice, have stressed to us how little the government knows about what goes on inside Iran. In 2005, the bipartisan Robb-Silberman report underscored that "Across the board, the Intelligence Community knows disturbingly little about the nuclear programs of many of the world's most dangerous actors." And as our liberal friends used to remind us, you can never trust the CIA.

Its 2003 ...Iran is faced with us just having removed the Taliban from power in 2001 after 9/11. Saddam and his sons were routed in 3 weeks earlier in 2003. So here you have the Iranians sitting there surrounded with someone viewed as trigger happy sitting in the White House.....what would you do.
Libya had this come to Jesus moment also....they called up a third party and asked for those crazy Americans to take their nuclear program off their hands.
I could see the Mullahs having this same moment and ordering a pullback....a suspension if you will.
Its all about the survival of the Mullahs....they don't care about their people.

No, Mr. Chamberlain, I will not invade Czechoslovakia.

My take on this is that Bush knew he wasn’t going to order an attack on Iran, no matter what; and this so-called “intelligence” report gives him cover and an excuse for not attacking Iran.

It’s pretty clear that this new NIE report is intended to give President Bush the cover he needs in order to back off from his often-reiterated promise not to allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. Soon we’ll hear him saying that he’s leaving the Iranian question in the lap of the next administration, be it Republican or Democrat.

The notes gave no clue as to why Iran had decided to stop weapons developmentNO CLUE being the operative phrase here.
Just because they aren't assembling the parts doesn't mean they don't exist and that command and control isn't still operational.
In 1934 Churchill warned that by '36 Germany would have air parity or superiority. He was treated as war monger and crank.
In 1936 baldwin admited to parliament Germany was on the rise.
I'd say todays Churchill is John Bolton, we all know who "germany" is, don't we.

Three of the main people behind the report are rabid anti-Bush people. This report is a political hit and jeopardizes our nations security. IMHO
