This is what you call a man who is out of touch. There is no excuse for him to be speaking with authority about something so important without having done his homework.

Is he really this naive? The NIE was not worth lining a bird cage with. Mitt, your Huckabee slip is showing. Hire new advisors.

I’m not sure who is having a worse week, Huck or Mitt.

As commenter Clyde Coneer said:

What a disappointment. GD politicians! It’s a shame the system runs on politics instead of merit. Mitt seems like a smart man who just must try to please everyone.

Give me a President who pisses off about 30% of the populace and scares the bejesus out of liberals and our other enemies.

Make it Duncan Hunter.

I would like to hear what Hunter has to say about it but he studies this sort of thing in depth before commenting.

“Good News”

Only for Iran (and their allies), who can now continue their nuke program without worrying about sanctions or military action. Hopefully the NIE report will soon be revealed for what it is -- a partisan hack job designed to embarrass the President and undermine American efforts in the WOT.

I’m for Fred, but I like pretty much everything Hunter has said and done. He’s a good and honorable man, and I’ve thought that since the Gen. Petraeus hearing, when Hunter stomped all over that weasel Lantos at the outset of the hearing and changed the tone of it from Lantos’ thinly-disguised insults to a sense of dignity and purpose. I just don’t think he has the name recognition, and he’s not getting it from the MSM either. I think he had - what - a total of 5 minutes in that abortive CNN debate? Not nearly enough exposure.

I suspect the tone in Washington would change dramatically with Hunter in the white house. The democrats always seem to back down from him for some reason.

What was naive about his statement??? He stated very skeptically that yes it was good news, but they’re still enriching uranium which can be used in a weapons program. It didn’t sound at all like he really believed the NIE report.

There’s nothing like letting the air out of your tires right in the middle of the race.

Greta: Blah blah blah flaw in our intelligence gathering.

Flip: “Well, that’s happened before, but it’s good news of course, that apparently their weapons activity has been put on hold.”

He believes it.

You’re not a very good observer. Read between the lines. Or is that too difficult?

So dissuading a country from Nukes is bad? Mitt says that he’d worried that Iran continues to work on enriching Uranium. So they’re not good enough yet. In context this makes perfect sense.

He also knows the “E” in NIE is estimate. It is only ever as good as what was put into it and the credibility and past accuracy of those contributing. It isn’t NIVF, National Intelligence Verifiable Facts.

I will save my sigh of relief for later. I am as concerned with what Iran, who just loves to fight a war by proxy will do with the waste and who might eventually get their hands on it. Americans did it over 6 decades ago in the desert using slide rules. These guys have computers and the benefit of 6 decades of accumulated knowledge. Again, I will save my sigh of relief for later.
