You can't find Christmas anywhere these days.
There are holiday trees, holiday decorations, holiday parties, holiday sales, holiday lights, holiday parades, holiday plays, holiday concerts and holiday displays.
Check your local paper on Sunday, and see if you can find the word "Christmas" mentioned anywhere...
That is until today - 8 people get slaughtered by a madman in a mall in Omaha and VOILA!
The media reports them as CHRISTMAS SHOPPERS!
That’s becuase all this “Holliday” stuff is Corporate P.C. BS. Thats all it’s corporate driven, and doesn’t really represent real people (outside of a corporate setting how oftend do you ever hear people say “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”: Me-Not Much.
I’ve seen a LOT more Christmas this year than last.
And Radio Shack commercials even have RELIGIOUS carols!
So does the local Walmart store....
Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.
Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.
No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.
Yeah, I noticed that too — Hark the Herald Angels Sing was on one of them, and I couldn’t believe what my ears were hearing! I thought for sure they’d cut off before the words “Glory to the newborn King” but they kept it in. Did a quick Google to see if any blogger or news site or something had noticed, and didn’t see it cause much stir.
Wow. Now America is on track. Thank God this issue has been resolved. I know it has been the number one issue in America.
Your sarcasm only shows that you really don't understand the problem or the potential danger.
While on the face of it, the systematic suppression of Christmas by the left wing may seem trivial, but you are ignoring the fact that it is one of the basic tenets of Marxism to destroy religion, along with destroying family values through sexualizing children and promoting "alternative lifestyles".
The secular liberals want the Folsom Street Fair in your high street and they don't want faith or values based groups that can oppose them.
Get rid of family loyalty, get rid of religion, and the Government can, and will, enslave you. It's a classic divide and conquer technique by left.
No other holiday has been attacked and diminished like Christmas has over the last 20 years, can you explain that?
Holloween is constantly criticized. The birthday of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington were combined. Veteran’s Day has basically became a sale at stores. Thanksgiving has become a negative because of the “nastiness” towards the Indians, and don’t even get me started on Easter. So no I don’t think that Christmas is even remotely the worst off.
Second, I think this country has so many other problems to worry about than Christmas. Christmas will always be here. I still get to go to Mass on Christmas Eve and then run home with the family for a late dinner. In the morning there are truckloads of presents under the tree that Santa brought. I don’t see any difference from when I was young. You get upset because someone says Happy Holidays in November??? Wow you have an easy life.
Well I do.
When I was at school we had a carol service, A nativity play and a Christmas party. The town was decorated, the shops all had Christmas displays. A special trip was made into the city to see the lights, and, if I was lucky, I might get to visit Santa Claus in one of the big department stores.
Stores issued Christmas catalogs, magazines and publications had Christmas editions, there were Christmas carolers collecting for charity and there was a Christmas spirit. The whole experience of Christmas shopping was done in a festive atmosphere.
"City sidewalks, busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there's a feeling of Christmas
Children laughing, people passing
Meeting smile after smile
And on every street corner you'll hear
Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city"
Does that sound anything like today?
When I grew up there were Christmas parties at work, and usually a departmental Christmas lunch. There were Christmas plays, Christmas performances of Messiah, there were carol services to attend.
All that has gone for the most part. There's no mention of Christmas in school any more, you can't even wear red and green (Lord knows why) in some places, The stores don't decorate, the word Christmas is banned from the retail world (But they still want our Christmas shopping dollars), Christmas is wiped out in the public square, so as you correctly observe, it is now a family event and a Church event.
"Well, that's what it should be", you might say, but it used used to be much more than that, it used to be national and worldwide event. People, strangers, were nice to each other outside of the confines of family and Church, and many acts of kindness came about that were inspired by the Christmas spirit.
The liberals have managed to wipe all that out and for the vast majority Christmas is now just a re-run of Thanksgiving Day with gifts.
Well that’s encouraging to hear, but I think it is atypical
I am sorry that you feel that way. I went to Catholic School my entire life so we had Christmas everything. They still do today as evidence with my children and nephews.
Merry Christmas!
