Thanks for starting the thread Kevin. I’ll be around tomorrow to do live coverage from mid-way through tanking to orbit insertion.

Well, I just send you a freepmail, but I’ll ask the same question here on the thread.

I’m driving over tomorrow from Clearwater to see the launch. I drove over to see my very first launch in August. Awesome!

Anyway, I need some guidance on where is a good place to see the launch. I have recently moved to Florida from California.

In August, we went to Kennedy Point Park in Titusville, on Rt 1, but if there’s a better place to watch, I’d love to know about it.

I’m bringing my son this time. We went to see lots of landings at Edwards when we lived in California, but the launches are definitely most exciting.

Any suggestions on viewing will be most appreciated.

I’m going tomorrow, too...I’ve been told that the best place is (short of being on NASA property) is Space View Park.

Basically sits at the eastern end of 406.

Somebody had a good idea of having a friendly FReep of a shuttle launch one time. I figure we could organize a whole group to go to Kennedy Space Center as well.

Thanks. That looks to be just north of where we were in August. I guess anywhere along that road is good.

Talk about “out of the park”, eh?

Just a side question, when will the last STS launch be? Or rather, what year is it scheduled. Don’t go to any bother, just if you happen to know off the top of your head. Thanks. I too would like to see one go up, it would be the first launch of any kind I’ve ever seen.

We’re gonna stop in for pizza afterward at a place called Kelsey’s on Garden Road (406)...I’ll have my 7- and 8-year-old boys with me.

If you plan on getting vittles and don’t have a plan, stop in and see if you can find us.

Glad you are coming over. I live just south of there and on the ocean. I watch the lift-off on TV and then go outside and sit by the pool and watch it rise and discard the fuel tanks....too soon it is out of sight. The sound is minutes behind the sight from here.

I went up to the Cape Viewing Bleachers once and saw all the flame and heard the noise on ignition...it is worth the trip. I also went to FREEP Clinton during the John Glenn return to space flight. It was during IMPEACHMENT days.

I never get tired of watching. Be sure to bring a portable radio and listen to the coverage...the “build up” to ignition is a major part of the show. The countdown is “electric”!

Late night , early start. LOL

Weather is expected to be good, sunny and cool.

Wear enough clothing to be comfortable. Layering is the way to do it. Afternoon temperatures change quickly and humidity near the water makes it less comfortable sometimes.

Sounds like lots of visitors coming for the event this time.
