DES MOINES, Iowa Rep. Tom Tancredo says his fellow Republican presidential candidates are aiding immigrants in breaking the law by taking part in this weekend's Spanish-language debate in Miami.
"What all my colleagues what the other candidates are doing it's encouraging violation of the law because it's saying, 'Don't worry about the fact that you have to know English to earn citizenship,' " said Mr. Tancredo, the only Republican to turn down the invitation from Univision for Sunday night's debate and who said the other candidates' participation was worse than pandering.

“However saying the others are pandering is just plain foolish.”
We speak English in this country. They’re pandering.
What about Tagalog? Chinese ... Mandarin and Cantonese? Vietnamese? German? Italian? Irish brogue? Texas drawl?
The insensitivity of it all!

At best, to appear before this group is to legitimize the willful refusal of such citizens to even accept the rudimentary social integration involved in learning English. It is to say that the melting-pot which (supposedly) defines America culturally is negotiable, and that "multiculturalism" is OK. Though I wouldn't necessarily say that pandering to this group is paramount to supporting criminal activity, IMO, it is entirely reasonable to infer a questionable value judgment from the actions of presidential candidates in this matter.
Actually, bad move.
Go anywhere and anyplace and if necessary, go smack into the Lions Den and tell them their faces they are wrong on immigration (and let it be translated in Spanish). Put the full weight of the GOP down on illegals in any forum you can. This is psy war at its best.
If Duncan gets a rousing chorus of BOO's when he lets into ILLEGAL ALIENS, this is a great clip to use for political contribution purposes.
It is like Terry Anderson running that fool Brown Beret Cepeda on his show (a tape) over and over. In a way he is giving him airtime, but the point is, he makes up for it in fortifying our side to stand its ground. If I were Tancredo I would reconsider, and show up, and get the badge of honor of being booe'd and hissed on stage, and let the RINOs there moderate on TV and accordingly dig their own graves with the GOP base on this one.
Good for Hunter.
Furthermore, I would do this.
I would make my introduction in English and slow it down (to what the VOA calls "Special English" speed) and say "Thank you, Univision, for this unique opportunity. However I would like to say this. What is better for you, my Hispanic fellow citizens, is not rely on Spanish language here as I speak, but make the extra effort to learn this English--as I am speaking in it--and we will even slow it down for you if you need it to get started. Before you know it, you will be fluent, and a full participant in our country's affairs, in the land of our country, English. Please make the effort as millions of immigrants from other lands have before you. I will not insult you by thinking you dont have enough brains to learn English by insisting you only rely on Spanish without any progress."
You forgot Korean, you insenstive fool! LOL! ; )

It would be great to see some of those interpreters' heads explode!
Good for him, this is America, Not Mexico!
The questions will not be honest and I doubt the translations will be, either. CNN will seem like a paragon ov virtue.
Good for Tancredo. It’s too bad all the others are showing, including Duncan and Fred. Just damn.
It is beyond absurd to have foreign language debates. The only ones the candidates should address are the voters and the voters speak English. Tancredo is one candidate who does not cater to foreign interests.
Take 'em on. Head on if necessary.
Ballsy a bit, but that is a good approach I think.
He'll be pandering at this debate. If as you say he regularly attends lion dens then he should enter a real big one and not go.
Well stated.
Good questions. How could they be U.S. Citizens if they don’t know our language, and from there, how could they possible be allowed to vote?
Good for Tancredo. And I hope Hunter addresses this quaundry as well.
Well said! Thank you.
This will be worse. Whose idea is it to come up with these debates? Maybe Romney's illegal workers will be present to ask a question.
ROTFLOL!
