Yes, I do believe fiction has an impact, particularly on young, impressionable minds.

In addition, I wouldn’t get all that upset about the repeated attacks on Christianity in films if it weren’t for the fact that these supposedly iconoclastic writers are too cowardly to attack any other faith, particularly Islam. It deeply offends me to see people like Dan Brown and Ron Howard beating their chests like Tarzan and acting as if they’re courageous for producing material that makes Christianity appear ugly and fraudulent. We all know they wouldn’t dare do such a thing to Islam. They wouldn’t even do it to a passive religion such as Buddhism, because they know the rules of Political Correctness, and those rules are:

1) It’s okay to denigrate Christianity. And if people protest the denigration, it’s because they’re “intolerant”.

2) It’s not okay to denigrate Buddhism, Hinduism, Native American religions, etc., because to denigrate them is “intolerant”.

3) It’s unthinkable to denigrate Islam. It’s “intolerant” to do so, plus it can get you killed.

What they do is only good in stories. The Bible says witches are sinful. End of story. I love fantasy, but good fantasy should not confuse what is right and wrong in the real world.

The critics are panning it. 38% only at rotten tomatoes.

I know there are women who CALL themselves witches, but come on, witches like the ones in fiction are strictly fantasy.

Well, maybe I won’t go see it. Who knows? I don’t often pay much attention to the critics.

You really think that? I can assure you that there are definitely witches. Yes, I’m sure that they look and act different than they do in fiction, but they are real. Unfortunately.

You are putting money in the pockets of your enemies when you go to most Hollywood movies if you are a conservative.

“You are putting money in the pockets of your enemies when you go to most Hollywood movies if you are a conservative.”

I’m aware of that but I enjoy movies of all kinds. I don’t generally get into the boycott thing.

What do they look like? When’s the last time you met one?

One lived with me. I invited her mother to stay with me for awhile and her daughter came along. I mentioned once that her friends looked like witches (wore all black; had long, died, black hair). She told me then that she and they were witches. And I’ve read some about them and watched history shows about modern witches. I worked with a man once who had been a warlock and he told me about his experiences. He had become a believer and he’s the one who impressed upon me the inconsistency of being a believer and having anything to do with witchcraft—even reading the books or seeing the movies.

Oh I’ve met women who SAID thy were witches, but they never did anything witchlike that I saw. It’s pretend. Fantasy. Most of these women eventually realize they aren’t witches.

She's nice to look at but she's clearly not that bright.

If someone says they are a witch, who am I to say that they are not witches? There are witches and I can assure you that some of them are very proud of it and would like to take issue with you. In fact, they would be quite offended. The experiences of the warlock I knew were chilling. And I knew another believer in college who had emerged from witchcraft. Pretty unGodly stuff.

“But I do get tired of the cowardly attacks on Christianity by artists and filmmakers who wouldn’t dare ridicule Islam in the same manner. And I get tired of the constant stream of anti-American films as well.”

Now those are good points.

I don't boycott so much as vote with my feet. No reason to watch and read crap when there is so much good that is available for rent/purchase . . . and expanding entertainment away from movies to plays, concerts, readings and the like.

I have no idea why those people do as they do, I just don’t understand getting offended by this kind of stuff.

I think it’s more than a priviledge to not believe in magic. I think there are many in the world that don’t believe in witches and magic.
