The last time I used a pay phone was when I was trying to call my cell phone company about losing my cell phone.

When I was in the service (1963-1967) pay phones were the only option. I used to buy 2 rolls of quarters to call my g/f and spend every one of them. I didn’t do it too often on my pay.
Those were the bad old days.

We need a return to having police call boxes then because not everyone in this world has a cellphone but there are times it is necessary to call 911 to report something you’ve seen or that happened to you.

Since 2001, pay-phone revenues from ads have exceeded revenues from callsIn this era of VoIP it could well be that offering free calls may make for a viable business model.

They also raised my phone bill rates when they said they wouldn’t. I asked no less than 5 people and all told me my rates would not be affected when they split. I hate Southwestern Bell and now they have me again. I just hate this junk. Of course; they sneak taxes in for this or that.

My cellphone cost me $10, and is prepaid, so that was a true cost. Each minute costs me between 10 and 17 cents, so that keeps me from wasting my time on it. Overall, it costs me maybe $7.50 per month to use.
I too will miss the payphone, however. Besides, how are the homeless and the bums supposed to recieve phone calls now?

When I went to switch back to Ma Bell from my cable phone service I suddenly discovered there’s no more real phone company office where I can go. Can’t even stop in ad get phone books. Had to do it all online.
