Immigration stance may be what turns many red states blue says LINDA CHAVEZ
The Dallas Morning News ^ | October 8, 2007 | Linda Chavez

Republicans need all the votes they can get next November if they are to have any hope of retaining the White House and winning back control of Congress. But one group of voters – among whom the GOP has gained considerable ground over the last few elections – now seems about to slip away, perhaps permanently.

Hispanic voters are poised to turn several red states blue come 2008, virtually guaranteeing a Democratic presidential victory and a pickup in congressional seats as well, according to a new analysis of Hispanic voting behavior. "Border Wars: The Impact of Immigration on the Latino Vote," released by the conservative Americas Majority Foundation, demonstrates that congressional Republicans' ham-handed approach to immigration will cost them dearly at the polls.

"...demonstrates that congressional Republicans' ham-handed approach to immigration will cost them dearly at the polls

Well of that I have no doubt, but got reasons opposite to those posited by the ever tribal Chavez. Most of the people I know, whether Republican or DemocRAT, are well aware of the desperate attempts by politicians to give away as much of this country as fast as they can to illegal Mexican occupiers and their business overlords, and the people I know (including a few grandmothers) are not in a particularly friendly mood lately, at least with issue.

I know Ms Chavez has her primary allegiance to her Mexican/hispanic tribe, but then she is a politician. If we are to believe her, all hispanics in this country are of a similar mind and they are eager to get their fellow hispanic compatriots into this country by hook or by crook, and we had better not stand in their way either, or else.

That may well be true for the vast majority illegals here, but I don't believe it is true for the majority of the existing population, hispanic or otherwise.

here's a couple of phrases I just cooked up using my latest edition of the here-and-now lexicon:

END THE ILLEGAL MEXICAN OCCUPATION NOW!

THE ILLEGAL MEXICAN OCCUPIERS MUST BE EXPELLED!

What you believe is what you believe. I can’t argue the rightness of your belief.

And if this forum gets to be built on what people believe, discussion will shut down.

As Rush says, conservatism wins every time it’s tried.

I give you Jindal in Louisiana as the most recent example.

Corollary - RINOs lose every time they try.

I admire Chavez but when it comes to how Americans (both born and naturalized) feel about criminal aliens she is stone blind.

She has a long history of supporting illegals (check out her background)... It has cost her in the past!

I''m afraid the return to 30 years in the minority wilderness is certain because of what has been done by conservatives acting out in a populist manner with no thought to the consequences.

Nonsense. If the pubbies return to 30 years in the wilderness it is entirely their fault not the voter's fault. They went to DC for a reason. They became big government instead.

I am fed up with these New World Order propagandists. Not only is it time for a Tea Party, it is time we brought out loyalty around to political parties that have Americas best interests at heart.

May I ask a question.....
Who is attempting to shut down discussion about illegal immigration? I have my own ideas, if you care to respond.

Why Mexican illegals are driving America "cuckoo"

Why doesn't Mexico take care of its own people? Why don't the ultra-wealthy Mexican elites help to pay for the health care and education etc of their own poor? Why do they instead encourage their poor to leave Mexico and invade the United States? Nature provides a parallel that is instructive.

Some species of birds thrive not by carefully rearing their own young, but by pawning that task off on adults of other species. The European Cuckoo, whose distinctive call is immortalized in the sound of the "cuckoo clock," is the bird in which this habit has been most thoroughly studied. Female European Cuckoos lay their eggs only in the nests of other species of birds. A cuckoo egg usually closely mimics the eggs of the host (one of whose eggs is often removed by the cuckoo).

The host may recognize the intruding egg and abandon the nest, or it may incubate and hatch the cuckoo egg. Shortly after hatching, the young European Cuckoo, using a scoop-like depression on its back, instinctively shoves over the edge of the nest any solid object that it contacts. With the disappearance of their eggs and rightful young, the foster parents are free to devote all of their care to the young cuckoo. Frequently this is an awesome task, since the cuckoo chick often grows much larger than the host adults long before it can care for itself. One of the tragicomic scenes in nature is a pair of small foster parents working like Sisyphus to keep up with the voracious appetite of an outsized young cuckoo.

Heck I remember when Linda Chavez used to be a Republican. The good old days. Now she’s just another RINO working inside the party to sell acceptance of Illegals to the party faithful. Ain’t gonna work Linda. We’ve already met your pals and can’t afford them in this country.

Well, in an argument about BELIEFS instead of THOUGHTS, the outcome will be determined by the loudest voice.

Might I suggest CAPS!!!! It will be the only way to win a discussion based on unreasoning belief...

She’s just trying to stay important. I also wonder what she is getting out of her hysterical rants?

Maybe she's got pepper spray in her underbritches?

More silliness from the open borders crowd.

How many blue states are at risk of going red over illegals?

RINO’s like Linda Chavez are the only thing keeping the GOP from hanging illegal immigration around the Dem’s neck like a boat anchor.
