Canada's largest non-profit Islamic organization launches complaints over Mark Steyn's article, "The Future Belongs to Islam" -- The Canadian Islamic Congress—Canada's largest non-profit Islamic body—has launched two human rights complaints against Maclean's and its editor-in-chief, Kenneth Whyte. The complaints' subject is "The Future Belongs to Islam," an excerpt from Mark Steyn's book "America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It," which appeared in the magazine's Oct. 23, 2006, issue. Complaints were submitted to Human Rights Commissions in B.C. and Ontario on the grounds that "the article subjects Canadian Muslims to hatred and contempt," according to a CIC press release. In the release, the CIC labels Steyn's article as "flagrantly Islamophobic."
Faisal Joseph is the CIC's legal counsel on the matter. "In Canada, we have 750,000 law-abiding Muslims," he says. "When you read that article, it sounds to some people [like] there’s an attack from the 'Muslim' world against the 'non-Muslim' world. We take real issue with that type of characterization and the implications of it."
In response, a Maclean's spokesperson provided the following statement: "Mark Steyn is a thoughtful and experienced journalist, and the piece was a commentary on important global political issues. It was not in any sense Islamophobic, and Maclean’s is confident that the Human Rights Commissions will find no merit in the complaints."

It’s actually somewhat amazing that Maclean’s prints Steyn’s column, & is speaking out on his behalf.
Macleans was what “Time” or “Newsweek” would be, if they were written by and for soft-left, heart-on-the-sleeve, pandering, multicult, anti-war, anti-American, anti-capitalism, mush heads. (O.K. maybe you think that does describe Time and Newsweek — but, they had nothing on Macleans.) I stopped subscribing years ago — maybe I should read a copy, next time I’m visiting my dentist.
Michael Savage has taken on CAIR, mediamatters, et al. Dr. Savage has not been friendly to his fellow conservative talk show hosts and frankly I don't blame them for not speaking out forcefully in his defense. But..
I do blame them if they do not ratchet up their exposure of CAIR as well as the smattering at mediasmatters. They don't have to cite Dr. Savage. It's their butts too.
There is no doubt in my mind that CAIR's duplicity is another front in the Islamists' war against America and nut cases are helping the Islamists.

In Montreal they are comitting arson against Synogagues and vandalism on Jewish graveyards. One just committed a mass shooting last spring in Montreal, his dad was a Muslim.
Come on, how many non law abiding Muslims does Canada have, and how does that compare with the non Muslim ration of non law abiding to abiding in the non Muslim Canadian population?
