JOnes was methodist minister. There was a lot of work done by the Methodists then and now. And admiring MLK does not make one a radical.
Alinsky is a different kettle of fish.
But the Methodists are always getting involved in social issues like racism.
There was a time that the turned collar gave them the standing in the community they needed to bring their far-left issues into the mainstream.
The Berrigans were classic examples of this. Once the Vietnam was was over, one of them left the church and married a nun!
Whether is was simply a schoolgirl crush or something more serious, perhaps even physical, we will never know, and I certainly do not “j’accuse” here. But of course, the idea of a priest having a relationship with a young parishioner is nothing new.
