Why do they use the same tracks? The commuter trains and freight trains use the same tracks all the time around here. It's very profitable for the railroads. If they had to build separate tracks, we'd all drive because they'd never get built.

Relax.....it’s ok. But please let us know when you dream of a cometary impact.

Not necessarily if it's a commuter train, where tickets can be purchased with cash from simple automated kiosks...you don't even have to talk to a human. Not in Chicago, you cannot.

Amtrak and freight trains share tracks. Amtrak actually owns only a pittance of track, mostly in the northeast and some in various other areas (e.g., most of the track Amtrak uses in lower Michigan is owned by them).

Sorry, but this story isn’t important.
Now the hostage siege at Hillary’s campaign HQ in NH IS important enough to be covered wall to wall on FNC.

That movie gave us a chuckle when it was released. It began with the train leaving Toronto and ended with it arriving in Toronto going the same direction- until then we never realized that there were rail lines that circumnavigated the globe.I can't tell you where they shot the movie, but the story line was that the trip started in Los Angeles and ended up in Chicago. Watch it again.

Why do they use the same tracks??? Geez Right my friend, you must not live near the tracks.
The US is short rail tracks like you wouldn’t believe.
To: Young Werther
That was SUCH a good movie.

Oh dear. Let’s pray for a minimum of injuries and/or casualties. My husband takes a Chicago-area METRA commuter train every day, and my heart stops every time I hear of a train incident on these tracks around here.
To: FDNYRHEROES
I’m aware of that, but they shot the movie in Toronto. To anyone familiar with the city, it was pretty obvious that Union Station stood in for both LA and Chicago.

Relax.....its ok. But please let us know when you dream of a cometary impact. Or when you dream that the first woman president is elected in 2008. = O !

Yep, and it's not confined to the railroads (I used to do accident investigation for the Southern, and you are right on the money.)
Our local bus company got so sick of the wannabes that they staged a collision on Peachtree Street.
They got about 50 claims . . . and promptly swore out warrants against all of them.
It kept things down to a dull roar, at least for awhile.
