It turns out that Keith Kerr, retired Colonel., U.S. Army; retired Brigadier General, California National Reserve, who submitted a YouTube question about gays in the military, is actually a member of Hillary Clinton's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transexual Americans For Hillary Steering Committee. He's also part of a film production crew trying overturn the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.
UPDATE: In the final seconds of the post-debate coverage, Anderson Cooper acknowledges that CNN messed this up and states that CNN did not know that Kerr has a position within the Clinton campaign and that had they known, they would have disclosed the association.

Interesting take. Maybe there's something to it. I'm a very positive person, but I'm getting near despair about the hope for a true conservative nominee. I started as a Tancredo supporter, discovered that he can't form two sentences without stuttering, and am at this point still officially supporting Fred. Barely.
Unfortunately, it seems more and more like Fred can't form two sentences without nodding off.
Here's my summary at this point:
- Our three leading candidates are either economic liberals (Huckster) or social liberals (Guiliani) or both (Romney);
- Our only real conservatives haven't got a prayer (Tancredo and Hunter);
- Ron Paul is a loon; and
- Fred Thompson, who is a pretty good conservative and in whom I'd put my hope, has apparently entrusted the management of his campaign to the Chattanooga Junior College Young Republicans

My late husband was a Ret. Marine - and I can guarantee you he would have been opposed to this guy’s behavior tonight. And, he would have been embarassed for the Army.
Well the DUers are rooting for a Huckabee candidacy, they think that he's another Bob Dole.
It's too bad that the Republicans keep doing the Democrats job for them by sniping at each other's candidates so constantly.
I was in the military for 11 years, my husband is still in (in Iraq as a matter of fact) and the military separates men and women for the reason of sex and other things that people with common sense would get. It’s just silly, I can’t even believe it’s an issue. UGH, sick of this PC crap.

Republican "debates" are about Republicans being questioned by Democrat "moderators" regarding Democrat (socialist) issues.
The Rev. Dr. Alvin Gomer, Episcopal priest and licensed psychologist, was his partner of 26 years. Dr. Gomer died in 2000.
Hmmmm. I haven't really thought about his electability. My first inclination is that the Clintons and their surrogates would shred him. Maybe not though. That populist thing may carry some weight.

Those of us working to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) believe that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) persons deserve full access to American society. That includes the right to serve in uniform. Each of us know those who must hide their inmost feelings and who worry each day if their career will be cut short by a careless remark, an intercepted letter, or a suspicious co-worker. But if we are to be successful in lifting the ban, do we really know the opposition? I think we do not.
The Administration’s intransigence and Congressional indifference frustrate our efforts. But the inconvenient truth is that religious conservatives are the best-organized and the best-financed opposition to the repeal of DADT today. They were instrumental in subverting the promise of newly-elected President Clinton to lift the ban in 1993. Their lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill and their networking inside the Pentagon continue today.
The religious conservatives rise to a policy-making role and a potent voice in national affairs began in the 1960’s and culminated in the late 1990’s. The effort gathered momentum as they realized many values and attitudes of the mid-20th Century had slipped away, and they were determined to bring them back. One of those attitudes, of course, was the prejudice and persecution directed toward GLBT persons. From the 1960’s on, pluralism and secularism had become dominant on the American political landscape. Pluralism allowed a variety of views and tolerance for different attitudes, and secularism supported national policies that did not necessarily reflect sectarian doctrine. Pluralism and secularism were viewed by religious conservatives as a monstrous threat to their interpretation of the Bible. They became activists to advance sectarian ideals. The resulting conflict has also been called the Culture Wars.
The best known groups are James Dobson’s Focus on the Family, the Rev. Lou Sheldon’s Traditional Values Coalition, and the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE). Views of other prominent leaders often appear in the media: Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, and Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council. They are all opposed to increased participation in American society by GLBT persons, which they refer to as “the homosexual agenda.”
Elaine Donnelly heads The Center for Military Readiness (CMR) and advocates replacing DADT with a policy of absolute prohibition. Ms. Donnelly’s group is hardly a think tank or a group studying a broad and in-depth array of defense issues, and styles itself as dealing with personnel issues. The CMR confines itself to issues of sexuality and is a thinly-veiled front for religious conservatives opposed to GLBT persons.
In contrast to the religious conservatives, the inclusive churches, synagogues, and mosques never organized effectively to advocate acceptance of GLBT people in the military or in society at large. Additionally, their interpretations of the Bible on the issue of homosexuality were never widely disseminated to the American public. Although individual church spokesmen often spoke up for GLBT persons and welcomed them, no cross-denomination group emerged until very recently. Soulforce began in 1999 when 200 GLBT activists descended on the Rev. Jerry Falwell’s Thomas Road Baptist Church to protest their anti-gay policies. Soulforce advocates “freedom for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people from religious and political oppression through non-violent resistance.”
In the last three years, I have been less than successful in convincing my colleagues that the religious right is the major obstacle to eliminating DADT. To many, that group seems insignificant and irrelevant in the context of daily political issues and world events.

During his 43-year career in the United States Army, Brig. Gen. Keith H. Kerr said he worried regularly that someone would discover his sexual orientation. He was aware of the “brutal interrogations” suspected gays received from commanding officers. In one instance, he said an investigator threatened to throw a soldier down a flight of stairs if he did not admit to being gay.
“I knew I just had to be very cautious about my lifestyle and who I share my social life with,” said Kerr, now 70,
Concealing his sexual orientation for 43 years requited an overwhelming effort that took a significant psychological toll, said Kerr.
“I was paranoid, constantly looking to see if anyone was following me,” Kerr said. “For years I had a recurring dream about an investigator who was always on my trail. We would each exchange threats. I would taunt him. He would taunt me. A nightmare.”
In an effort to bring greater attention to the impact of DADT, Kerr and another retired general as well as a retired admiral, came out in a New York Times article last week. Kerr, along with Brig. Gen. Virgil A. Richard and Rear Adm. Alan M. Steinman of the Coast Guard are the most senior uniformed officers to openly critique DADT and call for its repeal.

From this statement, he obviously knew the guy was a Hillary supporter. It's hard to believe he didn't also know he was part of her campaign.
Why is it that there were no GOP plants in the Democrat debates.
I didn’t see Fred’s ad, I was cooking while watching the debate. I have been leaning toward Fred, but now, I am getting worried. I don’t really feel confident with any of the prospective candidates.
I work very closely with the military and I’m shocked at how many colonels on their way to brigadier general are libs. It sickens me.

Clinton Campaign Announces Launch Of LGBT Americans For Hillary Steering Committee
On the eve of the 38th anniversary of Stonewall, Hillary for President announced the formation of “LGBT Americans for Hillary,” a national steering committee of over 65 leaders in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. Members of the steering committee include LGBT elected officials, activists from national LGBT and Democratic Party political groups as well as leaders from the worlds of business, entertainment and sports. This leadership committee will work with the campaign on several areas including political outreach, communications, policy advice and counsel, and fundraising.

Retired Brig. Gen. Keith Kerr, who asked a question about homosexuals in the military, was named to the leadership team of LGBT Americans for Hillary this summer, according to a June 28 article in the Advocate, at www.advocate.com.
Gen. Kerr was in the live audience, and moderator Anderson Cooper invited him to give what turned out to be a two-minute speech on the issue that drew audience boos. The general identified himself in his question as “an openly gay man” but remained in the closet about his ties to the Clinton campaign.
Imagine if they brought Kathleen Willey to a DNC debate. Would it have been enough to disclose she had been raped by Bill Clinton and then let her have five minutes with all the candidates???
