Could it have been it was he was the one who didn't turn it on?

You would be shocked at how many people don't bother to turn their security systems on.

You would be horrified at how many people don't bother to even lock their doors.

I know lots of people with security systems and only turn them on when they are not home, myself included.

There’s nothing odd or suspicious about that at all. I bet if you ask around, you’ll find that that is pretty much the norm.
