The first time I heard Huckabee on television, I was not impressed. Each subsequent time I have seen him, I have been even less impressed.
It is not like the Party leadership hasn't been warned about what would happen if they pushed the Big RINO candidates, so they are reaping what they have sown.
I agree that Huckabee is a huckster, but we refused to support a real conservative, so I guess we are getting the phony one.
Well, I’ve yet to hear him since I wasn’t paying attention. But I’m all ears from this point on.
We must not allow ourselves to be led off a cliff into the Rodham swamp by a bunch of itenerant pig farmers...
“Ive heard him say he could support Bushs immigration proposal with just a slight tweak to the Z Visa.”
Huckabee is just as bad on this issue from everything I’ve read.
I simply will not vote for anyone that doesn’t uphold immigration law.
Period.
No way will I vote for this clown....
I agree that Huckabee is a huckster, but we refused to support a real conservative, so I guess we are getting the phony one.
That's about it, I'm afraid. The party, the money people, the insiders, have been supporting Giuliani first and Romney second, as far as I can see. The Republican Party cannot reasonably expect to win unless the moneyed country clubbers cooperate with the conservative base. But as usual, they think they can have it all, and the voters will just have to lump it.
This is not the election to go into with that kind of attitude. We cannot afford to lose it, because of the Supreme Court appointments that are looming over us.
Plans for Rudy’s inauguration then? You have to be planning on a big bash for one of them since you are working so hard to defeat the only person who can stop them.
I just can’t seem to get excited about any of these candidates in 2008. Early on, I thought Fred would become the front-runner, but he just doesn’t seem to care about it, and it’s hard to get excited about someone approaching it that way. I can’t see any sense in just letting everyone else have Iowa or NH, and not even contending for them.
Huckabee is a disaster waiting to happen for the Republicans who still hold out hope for a smaller federal government or secure borders, Romney is a used-car salesman and everyone either knows it or will know it. Guiliani ought to be running as a Dem, McCain is old and tired, and wasn’t attractive even when he wasn’t old and tired. Paul is so attractive on the domestic front but a true whack-job on foreign policy.
Once again, all our hopes of retaining the White House rest solely on the Dems picking an even less electable candidate.
... power, well established and entrenched but methodically destroying the values of common good, is diabolic in character.
The satanic aspects of such government combining power with wickedness and irrationality are usually underscored by a quality of confusion.

I was looking for something by Erick v. Kuehnelt-Leddihn. A conservative writer that I just found by posting a foreward.
I found this on EBAY.
No way, he's got 300 million dollars in his bank account and big money supporters behind him. Financially, he will be able to survive a slip in Iowa, but he may not survive the perception of a loser that would be sure to follow. In any case, Huckabee is my least favorite candidate of those in the running and a sure loser in the general election.
The Huckabee rise is very good news for Fred. It proves support for Rudy and Mitt is soft and few think Huckabee, the current media darling, can last as he becomes better known and the voters become more familiar with the entire field. This leaves the race wide open for Fred and I’m more encouraged than ever.
I’m ready for Fred/Duncan
Exactly. The one I see as the best representation of this is Duncan Hunter (I would also be ok with Fred) but I wish DH were better known, especially among Evangelicals - that's where the Huckster has an advantage, I think he makes a fine Baptist preacher but I'm very wary of him being CIC.

What did Rush say? Huck is an absolute fraud. Huck worships at the alter of State power. His records clearly shows he loves to grow government - high taxes, nanny state interference in our lives. Huck has very little understanding of Federalism. Huck has shown through his record and words, he would have very little respect for our Constitution. Our Republic cannot survive all these ego-centric Statist who's primary desire is to grow government and regulate our lives into a Socialist hell.
Heck, if Huck is a conservative, we might as well call Hillary a conservative.
Governor Romney: "I strongly oppose today's bill going through the Senate. It is the wrong approach. Any legislation that allows illegal immigrants to stay in the country indefinitely, as the new 'Z-Visa' does, is a form of amnesty. That is unfair to the millions of people who have applied to legally immigrate to the U.S." (Romney for President, "Governor Mitt Romney On The Senate Immigration Agreement," Press Release, 5/17/2007)
Governor Romney: "McCain-Kennedy isn't the answer. As governor, I took a very different approach. I authorized our state police to enforce immigration laws. I vetoed a tuition break for illegals and said no to driver's licenses. McCain-Kennedy gives benefits to illegals that would cost taxpayers millions. And more importantly, amnesty didn't work 20 years ago, and it won't work today." (Governor Mitt Romney, Remarks at 2007 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Washington, D.C., 3/02/2007)
He supports deporting felon illegals and denying social services. He supports the border fence and tougher fines for those who hire illegals.
Romney is endorsed by Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, AZ.
Sheriff Joe Tells Why Romney Is the One
I figure there’s a 50-50 chance that Chucklebee will peak in December, but if not, then he can defeat Romney in Iowa. It will be far easier for Fred Thompson to run against the Huckster and his record, than against Mitt and his money.
REALLY now? What did Rush say?
Liberty, properly understood, must fall under the umbrella of the common good, or "the General Welfare," as the idea is phrased in the preamble to the Constitution. Logically, individual liberty and freedom cannot be the paramount principle of good government, since such would represent licentiousness or a state of anarchy.
