Dehumanize your political opponent, and he will be hated.

Liberals could not do this without their monopoly on media, Hollywood and Academia.

We must run a stake thru these commie vampires.

And soon.

The only way to break it is to stop feeding it.

Bush is simply the latest of a long line of hate-figures -- it's the way the liberal-left does things.

BUMP!

Irony alert! Liberals are stupid, however the current atmosphere of hatred runs both ways. It's a product of the culture war. Patty B. gives a pretty good analysis of the roots of the current hysteria.

I want the left to destroy itself by choking on its own irrational hatered. What I don’t want is for them to destroy my country in the process, like rooting for America to lose wars.

“Can liberalism change? “

No. Liberalism itself is a hate crime. They don’t get it now and IMHO, they will never get it!!

I don't recall anything good or positive having been said on this forum about either of the Clintons, Carter, Johnson or FDR. Occasionally a kind word about Lieberman or Zell Miller but they are rare exceptions.

Then, after all that, and only after all that, do we get to George W. Bush, baby-killer, torturer, trasher of the Constitution, and slave of Halliburton.

If anything, the Democrat establishment is all that and more.

If a Republican wins in 2008, they will continue to bitch, moan, and badmouth. If a Democrat wins in 2008, they will gloat and take revenge for imaginary offenses.

Either way, the Democrats will continue to grow more foul, more desperate, more vindictive, until their utterly repugnant cloud of negativity is found repulsive by Americans. And, then, even the ordinary folk will see the Democrats for the jackasses that they are.

How true. The hatred I see in my liberal friends is scary, and there’s no reasoning or debating any ploitical topic with them any more. I’ve tried to prove that the FISA act was enacted in Carter’s term, or that the Rendition program was started in Clinton’s term and I am just called names like a “Bushbot” and the like.

I can has Irony? Here's the problem. (voting)Americans are divided almost 50/50 liberal and conservative. By picking certain hot button issues(abortion, gay marriage etc...) each party has managed to carve out blocks of fanatics that will basically believe anything bad about the other party.

You're quite right, if the republican party wins the next presidential election liberals will whine. If *they* win there will be a reckoning.

But here's the rub. We will do *exactly the same thing*. The very mention of the "Cl" word sends FReepers into a frothing rage. There are certainly good reasons for this, but after a certain point the hatred becomes irrational.

It's like the butter battle book. Even the language that the parties use against each other is identical.

It's time for a third way.

Then perhaps you should do the honors, but what would you say?

Liberalism does things that way because it has devolved into an ideology with an ideology’s characteristics... Little trace remains of discussion, debate, consensus, or any respect for democratic norms and procedures. There’s only the philosophy of “whatever it takes”, the strategy of “by any means necessary”.

There is a way out: if liberals were to make an honest assessment of their liberal arguments and see that they are based on lies, falsehoods, inconsistencies and innacuracies, then they just might become more conservative and break away from the liberal fantasy world...that would be like a religious conversion but it does happen...

OK, let’s pick one. Say, Carter.

Can you name anything he accomplished as President that was good?

I think his efforts with Habitat have been laudable, but that was of course post-Presidency. Beyond that, it gets pretty thin pretty quick, both during and post.

Camp David was a pretty big accomplishment.

Carter also deregulated quite a few industries.

I'll see your bump and raise you two ...

Without a central figure to hate, liberals are lost in the woods. In 1994 it became Newt, and moved on to Delay, then fell to Bush to carry the hate forward. It's how liberals are, full of hate. And the biggest central hate repository, Hillary Matters.

>>Camp David was a pretty big accomplishment.

Yes, the lasting results of that are evident.

>>Carter also deregulated quite a few industries.

Name two.

That's because Democrats have become a cult of personality. Look at Clinton's deification. You have heros, you have enemies to be demonized(i.e. Jorge, The unelected resident etc...). It's easier than thinking.

Then again, modern conservatives with names like "Hitlery" and "Klintoon" aren't much better. You pray for president Bush and hate who you're supposed to.

Both of these groups have developed their own cultish ideologies and lexicon. The American political system is irrevocably broken.
