Al Gore Sells Out
Heartland Perspective ^ | November 21, 2007 | Joseph Bast

Posted on 11/26/2007 10:23:50 PM PST by raisetheroof

On November 12, former vice president Al Gore announced he is joining a venture capital firm that seeks to cash in on global warming alarmism.

Gore resurrected his career by persuading millions of people that a 1 degree warming of the Earth’s temperature over the past century was man-made and portends a global catastrophe. Gore already has used global warming to become a very wealthy man, charging $200,000 and more to give speeches on global warming and steering investments to a firm he partly owns that sells worthless “carbon credits.” He stands to make millions of dollars more in his new position.

It all begs the question: Was Gore in it just for the money all along?

He owes his girth to a lifelong love of barbecued pork.

The email story is true, about AlGore's 10,000 sq. foot house:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/house.asp

***************

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,254908,00.html

Al Gore's posh home in the Nashville suburbs might be "carbon neutral," but it still uses a lot of power.

So much that last August Tipper and Al Gore used twice as much electricity in their two-building property as an average U.S. household uses in an entire year, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, a think tank, reported Tuesday.

Public power and gas bills turned up by the group show that the man behind the Oscar-winning global warming wakeup documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," uses much more overall carbon-based fuel than the average American, spending thousands of dollars a month on electricity and gas.

"As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use," Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson said in a statement. The center says on its Web site that it "promotes personal freedom and limited government."

“Heartland Perspective”...is that a liberal rag turning on one of it’s own who appears to be a traitor to the cause?

Who gets to sell a carbon credit? Would all the serfs left in China plowing their rice paddies with water buffalo get to sell one each?

I don't believe that's the case.

In the article, they indicate that they've run a $1 million ad campaign challenging him to debate global warming with them. So far, he has ignored all such challenges.

Borrowing from Christopher Hitchens, who was quoting someone else: [Gore] is so corrupt, he would pay for the pleasure of selling himself.

Of course he was in it for the money! This was a money grab from the get-go. Anytime in the course of human endeavors, when the facts don't add up, follow the money.....and in this case there are literally tens of BILLIONS of dollars to follow.....

If I had the money, I’d pay Gore his fee to advise me on his carbon trading scam, record it and then broadcast his lies to the world.
