Pat Buchanan Supports Duncan Hunter's Trade Leanings

Posted on 11/26/2007 6:34:18 PM PST by conservativecajun

Just now on Fox News's Hannity and Colmes, when Alan Colmes pushed Buchanan on who he supports for President, Pat Buchanan mentioned one guy, Duncan Hunter.

He said on the issue of foreign trade, Duncan Hunter is the best candidate.

Michael Reagan says the same.

Well, um... I’m not sure if this is a compliment or an insult.

I would have thought he’d endorse Ron Paul. Paul and Buchanan are a lot alike.

Does Ron Paul give even one rip, about American jobs?

That’s what Pat is supporting in Duncan Hunter.

FAIR trade.

I would think Paul, would advocate selling us all, to the highest bidder.

Lol! True, that!

I would have thought he’d endorse Ron Paul. Paul and Buchanan are a lot alike.

I heard that! They're both basically John Birchers.

I'm sure Buck doesn't know about Duncan's support of Israel. Pat seems to hate Israel more than he supports anything.

He didn’t endorse anyone, he also said that he would choose a candidate that would not indulge in foreign wars.

The initial poster didn’t claim the Buchanan endorsed anyone. He addressed the issue of trade.

Duncan Hunter is not associated with Pat Buchanan, thank goodness. Pat Buchanan has written much propaganda in favr of the enemy, praised Hitler, and the like.

Duncan Hunter is very much in favor of finishing the War and defending our allies, including Israel. Duncan Hunter should be our next president.

I don’t know what the purpose of your post is, I wanted to make a statement and it was natural to post it to the thread beginning.

Pat Buchanan's weird Herbert Hoover'ish ideas about trade are what sank his candidacy in '92. Most of his financial backing came from the libertarian wing of the party. They all switched to Bush when Buchanan refused to support free trade.

I don't see what the great attraction is to higher prices. Why should I pay more so you can keep a job that you are second rate at?

Paul and Buchanan are a lot alike.

Only in their isolationism. They'd be hardpressed to agree on much else, I suspect.

Pat Buchanan has never praised Hitler. That is a ridiculous and reckless statement.

I’m not faulting you for making the post. I simply pointed out that the original poster hadn’t infered an endorsement. Perhaps you think I shouldn’t have pointed that out.

"FAIR trade."

It's time to put that dog out of its misery. Reagan introduced the level playing field rhetoric only because the democratic congress was proposing banning the importation of Japanese cars. It was just a political maneuver. Reagan and Thatcher were dedicated followers of Hayek (as is Ron Paul) and did not believe in any form of protectionism.

Yeah, you're so right. U.S. workers are second rate and such flakes, for desiring to be paid more than $0.20 an hour. The nerve! /s

“Perhaps you think I shouldn’t have pointed that out.”

I just don’t get what your concern is, you seem troubled by something.
