I’ll have to read the book AND see the movie! What a story! WOW!
The capabilities of a determined soldier are truly astonishing. I thank God that men such as Eugene Deatrick enlist in our military forces because they are a guiding light for all others to emulate when tough times appoach.
You won’t be disappointed. They crammed as much of his real-life items as they could for the movie time they had. As much brutality as there is in his story it was actually a very upbeat movie in that his character was full of can-do attitude. It would even make for a good SERE training flick about attitude.
To this day, there have been no consequences for being an inhuman enemy of the United States..... In fact - we have congress critters falling all over themselves wanting to please our former Communist enemy and ignore or lie about the Americans and Hill Tribe allies we all KNOW we left behind....
The ONLY sonsuvbithes who paid a price for the bestiality of their Communist Viet Cong or NVA allies — were the poor bastards who never got the opportunity to gain prisoner status once they realized they were certain to die if they didn’t attempt to surrender.
Gaining prisoner status became nearly impossible for enemy engaged in certain areas or known to be from certain units....and most especially for those in possession of Marine gear or personal items taken from Marines...
Those unfortunate bastards carried their own death warrants....
Too bad their domestic U.S. allies didn’t share the same fate....
We all know who they were too, don’t we?
