Very cool story but I have to say I’ve never heard of a breed called “blond heeler”.

So after looking up what a “heeler” is I see there is a breed called “Blue Heeler” aka Australian Cattle Dog. I wonder if this one is a bleached blond version?

Rescuing a good dog is one of the finest things a person can do. I know; have two great rescue dogs, on half chocolate Lab and Weimaraner and the other half black Lab and pit.

I was guessing that maybe "blond heeler" was the local reference for what around here is known as a red heeler (as opposed to a blueie).

We have two rescue dogs, too. One is a purebred 13-inch white beagle bitch, angelically sweet but a real loser as a hunter. That’s okay, though. The other is God-knows-what. Very handsome, and absolutely the best dog I’ve ever had, the dog of a lifetime.

My late husbands older sister died in a school fire many years ago. She ran back into a burning school building and didn't make it back out.

Although I think a better headline would have been “Rescued Canine Rescues Owner From Burning Mobile Home Twice” (yes, I, know it’s redundant).

As it reads now, it almost sounds like a dog had rescued it’s abusive owner.
