As climate alarmists from all over the world head to Bali to talk about the sacrifices regular folks have to make to save the planet from global warming, it seems certain media will ignore all the private jets clogging the tiny airport.
As if its not enough that the United Nations Climate Change Conference is being held at what NewsBusters reported as "a truly beautiful tropical island paradise," the management of the nearby airport has issued a warning to attendees that they are going to have to park their private jets somewhere else.
I kid you not.
As reported by Bali Discovery Tours on November 3 (emphasis added):
Tempo Interaktif reports that Angkasa Pura - the management of Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport are concerned that the large number of additional private charter flights expected in Bali during the UN Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC) December 3-15, 2007, will exceed the carrying capacity of apron areas. To meet the added demand for aircraft storage officials are allocating "parking space" at other airports in Indonesia.
The operational manager for Bali's Airport, Azjar Effendi, says his 3 parking areas can only accommodate 15 planes, which means that some of the jets used by VIP delegations will only be allowed to disembark and embark their planes in Bali with parking provided at airports in Surabaya, Lombok, Jakarta and Makassar.
Talk about your really inconvenient truths.
Noel Sheppard is an economist, business owner, and Associate Editor of NewsBusters.
They could set up an Internet conference. If they were a real business they would.
This sad situation could be so easily remedied by the deployment of a single F-17. Valet parking at it’s finest..........
Oh the Huge Manatee.........
Truth is more inconvenient than fiction alert...
I wonder if Albore will be there as a guest speaker, err, High Priest.
Then I will not go to Bali ( without a large private jet ).
/s
All your ramp space are belong to us.
Bali!!! Why aren’t they going somewhere like Greenland or Siberia to show how warm it has gotten to be in December!
That would be a really smart thing for them to do. And think of the mileage they would get from actually doing something friendly to the environment.
I have far more respect for someone who walks the walk, even if I disagree with their premise, compared to the hypocrites that only talk the talk. Ed Begley is an environmentalist actor who rides his bike instead of driving, has a solar house, and other stuff that truly saves energy. I respect that far more than Algore, Sheryl Crow, etc who fly around in their Gulfstreams to tell us that we are creating too much pollution.
I guess the solution will be to park their private jets at other airports and send private jets from the main airport to pick them up. Or they could just shuttle back and forth in a Prius.
Much of the Green agenda is a political quasi-religous “event” for the annointed rich leftists and there is no better proof than this.
It’s good that the IPCC has released a report that says the only solution to global warming is to put them in charge....
be he’pin’ po’ folks on the democrat plantation.
Baliiiii Hiiiiiiigh ..
Al Gore invented it. ;-)
How much money do we taxpayers send to the United Nations ?
each year ?
But, but, you can’t expect these beautiful people to think straight after 12 or 13 hours shoehorned into tourist class with a bunch of loutish peasants and eco-criminal capitalists, can you?
They are entitled to some extra consideration because of their great sensitivity and the good works they are doing on behalf of the world’s children. It’s all for the children, you see.
Now be quiet and learn to respect your betters.
i believe you
We pay one dollar out of every four they spend.
