Dozens of people including journalists, film crews, well-wishers and protesters gathered outside Kirribilli House before Mr Howard emerged about 6.30am (AEDT) today.

One Liberal supporter asked Mr Howard to sign a copy of his biography, John Winston Howard, as other supporters, holding a sign which read John Howard Forever, wished him luck today.

Lets hope he pulls it off, for it is not just the aussies that need him, the world needs strong leaders like John Howard that appreciate the rich history of Australia and understands the threats we face as free nations.

I guess it’s not as much to do with a GTVO effort over there on election day? ;)

It depends on how close it is, but our polls close about 2am New York time, and we wouldn’t really expect much before 3am New York Time at the earliest - and only then if it’s a strong victory to one side or the other.

If reelected, he will retire late in his next term, handing over to his Treasurer, Peter Costello.
