Excellent post. Thanks for that.
However, there is one other overriding reason that Congress stepped in: Governor Jeb Bush was too weak to do anything - - helpless before the mighty power of a county probate judge. He fell flat on his face and looked absolutely pathetic, forever dashing any hopes he may have once harbored for a run at the Presidency.

FRegards,
LH

The autopsy did not prove Terri was PVS.

Dr. Nelson, the neuropathologist conceded that Terri could have been MCS but there was no way to be sure since pathological conclusions on the MCS were limited. Dr. Nelson therefore conceded to the known PVS diagnosis indicating that his findings were constistent with PVS pathological readings.

Dr. Nelson, addition to conceding that Terri could been MCS also conceded that it was possible that Terri was aware and could hear and recognize her family members.

However, Dr. Nelson was very quick to defend his PVS POV.

CNN Press Conference Transcript Piece:

The question is first asked:

QUESTION: Dr. Thogmartin, what abilities did Terri have? You said she was blind. In those — near the end of her life, what would she have been able to do, feel, whatever?

Dr. Nelson is quick to defend his PVS POV.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The — again, it’s important to remember this is — persistent vegetative state is a clinical diagnosis. It’s not a pathologic diagnosis. The findings of Terri Schiavo are very consistent with persistent vegetative state.

Dr. Nelson is pressed:

QUESTION: Doctor, her family had said repeatedly that she believed that — they believed that she interacted with them. Are you saying that’s impossible?

Dr. Nelson concedes but is quick to defend it.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We’re certainly not saying that’s impossible. But we’re saying based on what we know, and what is in the literature with regard to persistent vegetative state, again, that is a clinical diagnosis. It’s not a pathologic diagnosis that has precision associated with it.

So your unbiased contention is that Fred should have been prepared for Steponallofus to lie so blatantly, saying Terri was brain dead. I see ... do you also do seances?

“It’s a real bummer that Fred let the same question sneak up on him twice.” So from whom was the lie that she was brain dead according to the autopsy blasted at Fred prior to Step spittling it out? You’re an agitprop pushing a lie.

Okay, so let me try this one more time. You posted:

"The autopsy showed that it was possible for Terri to have some type consciousness."

I would like to read that in the autopsy. Do you know where in the autopsy those words are located, because I have not been able to find them?

You also stated:

"But since there was pathlogical liturature for PVS, the ME had no choice but to concede that his findings were consistent with it."

Did the medical examiner say that he had no choice, or not?

With all due respect to you, I am looking for concrete information that comes directly from an informed source, not what you say an attorney said that a doctor said about what the medical examiner actually said.

Since you were authoritatively making these posts, I assumed you had the answers.

Nope...No seances here.
Fred knows how this game is played. Having been asked about this issue previously, he should have been better prepared, instead he gives the MSM more fodder that he’s out of touch, too old, too lazy....take your pick.
Sorry that’s the way it works. If FDT wants to get out in front, he’s going to have to anticipate this kind of thing from the MSM, and if he can’t manage that...then he’s toast.

“Bwahahaha .”

Bwahahaha yourself. I don’t know you bud, and if you don’t like that FDT got tricked, have your electricity turned off, and don’t watch any more politics programs. No crystal needed to see that FDT is under performing, believe that...or not. I don’t care one way or another. This thread is about Fred getting tricked by Steph, and my point is, if FDT wants to be a front runner, he should expect “gotcha” style questions, and be prepared.

Fred was quite clear on what he believed during that interview. George tried to bait him multiple times. If you believe that any of the other candidates would have done better you are welcome to believe that, but it simply isn’t true.

Among all the candidates we have Fred is the one most likely to stand up to conservative principles the most effectively when under fire - and to explain them in a way that non-political junkies will understand and agree with. Rudy and McCain will stand up for principles, but we may not all agree with them. Huck is a fraud, Romney will blow with the wind and the others won’t be in a position to have those interviews in the first place.

"Why do republicans keep going on these leftist shows and continue making fools of themselves"

I saw that interview and he did an excellent job.

I don't think an objective viewer would have come to that conclusion, however, that leaves you out as proven by your posting history.

You ain't objective!

I like Fred, but apparently the voters don’t want someone who doesn’t run a three-ring-circus campaign of wild claims, impossible promises, PT Barnum schmoozing and claims of being a 2nd Amendment supporter and a pro-lifer in spite of a solid history of gun grabbing and baby killing. If the polls are to be believed even the pubbies want a two-faced candidate.

So well said it deserves to be posted again!

I'm with both of you, especially the bit about how not all of us lives, eats, and breathes Shiavo, unlike some sanctimonious lops who think they're better "conservatives" than people like me who actually respect the dignity of living families. The whole Shiavo media spectacle was an ugly invasion of a family's privacy and a lurid display of emotional exploitation by some "conservatives" for moral-political points. Disgusting.

To focus on this one moment in time as a "test of [Thompson's] character" is the most juvinile, inane, selfish piece of crap I've EVER seen.

One hundred percent CORRECT.

Social conservatives made fools of every single Republican who voted to intervene in the Terri Schiavo case, which is why nobody, and I mean nobody, will campaign on this issue in a general election and win. You were wrong. You lost. And you took down a Republican Congressional majority with you. Suck it up and learn your lesson. If you stay quiet, maybe people will start to forget. But if you blow the election for fiscal conservatives, then trust me, we won’t forget.

If one day you can sell social conservatism as well as we’ve sold fiscal conservatism, then it might be our turn to to hold our noses and accept you as the lesser of two evils. But don’t kid yourselves. You’ve got a long way to go. The Terri Schiavo fiasco is proof of that.

In the meantime, your credibility depends on your association with us, especially given how insistently stupid you’ve been when it comes to Terri Schiavo, foreign policy and global warming, to take just three examples. I mean, my God, if you had your way we’d be playing Galileo to your Father Lorini.

Until you can win your own war of ideas, keep your mouths unless we tell you to lick our envelopes. Your role is give us your money, give us your votes, and get your friends at Church to do the same. Other than that, stay out of our way.

It looks like this poor lady is going to be a political football for a generation. I wonder if the 20 or so people who continue to dwell on it will push to make the Schiavo case a part of the republican party platform....

Prayers up for the lost souls on this thread who defend what they concede is Fred’s support for the killing of Terri Schiavo. May God show them their error in thanking Him for her death. I don’t know if Fred really does support killing cognitively disabled people, but it concerns me to see people supporting him based on their belief that he hates disabled people as much as they do. And it concerns me to see Fred courting that support with his remarks about Terri.

I don’t want to become your pet project and the unlucky person on your one-person ping list. I want you to back up your statement about Fred Thompson. If you are unable to do that, then you should concede defeat and back off your slander of the best person running.

Visitors who may not know the background may review our Terri Daily threads to find a regular chronicle I call "Fred and Terri tar baby dailies". I started them at the beginning as we predicted back then his original gaffe would haunt him.

Pinged from Terri Dailies
