So, Lurker would be the one on the slab?
Does this deputy know Drew Peterson?
“Barboza: “A bunch of kids just got off the bus and they were all on the street. All the kids were watching the officer shooting the dog. My heart was broken seeing an officer killing my dog.”
Reminds of the school bus scene in Napolean Dynamite where the kids all watch the farmer kill the cow.
Someone help me out here....this doesnt make sense.
Why didn’t they just bring the dog inside? Then the deputy would have needed a search warrant to enter the house.
It feels like we don’t have the whole story. The dog was left tied up and lived? These don’t sound like outstanding dog owners, altho perhaps I’m missing something. Of course, if the officer really did what is alleged, shame on him (and heck, it sounds like a lawsuit to me). But still, something seems odd here...

This is very bizarre.
Why did this man just roll over and comply without so much as any documentation?
He asked, got a non-answer, then I would’ve said “hell no; what’s up with you in the head, anyway?” and walked off. Then called the police/sheriff’s dept. myself (knowing a guy like that would likely follow and be beating down my door, screaming “resisting....!”)
I don’t see how this was possibly legal, and why he’d go along with it.
To put a dog down usually requires a nuisance complaint to be filed by the district attorney and a trial. (I know, I have tried dog-barking cases.) Had that occurred, an order after the trial would have been served on the owners and they would have had the opportunity to "abate the nuisance" themselves. If they refused after trial and service of an order, then the sheriff would get involved.
I've never heard of a sheriff just showing up with a gun. And if there were a court order, he would have had papers with him authorizing the "abatement."
This story is wildly improbable, although anything is possible.
Two words...due process.
Shoulda used a taser.
I cannot imagine this- even if the dog was under court order to be destroyed for being dangerous, it would seem he would be taken to the pound and put to sleep. A deputy dragging the dog out and shooting him in front of everyone is just crazy! Did the dog bite the deputy or one of his family members?
Wasn’t there a case like this with a slightly different fact set in PA just last week and the cops are always right gang telling us that such events were really really rare?
All dogs should be eliminated.
He would have had to shoot me.
...and I am not just saying that as a kneejerk reaction.
He would have had to shoot me.
No way in hell I would stand my dog up and watch someone shot it. No way.
He would have had to shoot me.
What kind of a wimp lets a deputy take his dog and shoot it without seeing a warrent or order from a court? What kind of wimp hides with his wife after the cop drives off?(the wimps own words, he hid). Better show me some papers or you call a supervisor.
Good thing their 3 year old didn’t bite someone.
I hope someone who knows more about this provides more details. The article posted here isn't very informative.
Did that deputy use to work for the BATF? Sounds like how they opened their Ruby Ridge and Waco offensives!
