A bench warrant is issued. The next time they get stopped it will appear on their MV history. These warrants are not used to expedite but it does give the LE an opportunity to “look” a little harder at the driver.

I have some friends that are cops. Cops are like everybody else. There are good ones, and there are jerks. The first words out of the cop's mouth were "give me your license and registration"... instead of "I'm stopping you because you were ...."

All this guy had to do was write the ticket and go on about his way. But to the cop this was all about the guy not obeying the letter of what he was instructed to do.

Secondly, if the lady wants to go stand in the bar ditch and watch what's happening to her husband.... I think she has the right to do that. She posed no threat to the cop.

Yep... cuffed, or no, you don’t turn your back on an unrestrained suspect.

Did you hear that big brave husband call to his wife for help? What a cowardly jerk, LOL.

If he had beat the crap out of the cop... would you have thought more of him?

Bullcrap...You're making this up to support your argument.

If you're going to make your argument based on something other than this video, than say so.

As department policy we did not exceed the interstate posted 65 by more than 10 MPH. Problem is when a cop is doing say 65 or 70 traffic starts to backup. In the case I sighted there was no traffic, it was daytime and the driver did not even slow down, just came rolling up by me. If he had slowed down, then passed, I would have done nothing. I have driven fast, speeding if you will, without the blues on for several reasons. Looking for reported DUI, was taking an arrest to the jail, cash bonds of $4K and I was the only cop in our small town on duty. Had to get there and drop him off and get back to my town. On the way back I did hit the blues a few times because traffic would bunch up, so bad there was no room to move to the right lane.

You know watching the video... the cop is going down the road. The guy is following.... the cop slows and pulls over in front of the 40 mph sign.... the guy goes by...... then the cop redlights him almost immediately. No radar. It didn’t look like the guy was going faster than 40 to me. I guess it’s difficult to tell, but I’d question why the stop was made in the first place. I’d question if the guy was actually speeding.

Overlooked so far in the discussion is that rolling around on the ground could have resulted in the wife jumping into the fray. I’ve seen that happen more than once.

I’m also seeing a lot of the usual confusion about taser related deaths versus taser caused deaths. There are actually only a couple of incidences of taser caused deaths. The media keeps assuming that all excited delirium deaths are taser caused, all self-induced heart attack deaths are taser caused, all asthmatic attack deaths are taser caused, etc. By that standard, the number of ‘arrest caused’ deaths would be phenomenal. Whereupon they’d be arguing that no form of force should ever be used on those resisting because everything from a firm grip on up was a potential cause of death.

Maybe I’ve been around too long, but I recall this whole bit happening fifteen years ago when the choke hold was outlawed by many departments. Then it was Mace related deaths, then OC related deaths. What was left was the swarm technique and baton strokes. Rodney King was an example of the consequence of limiting force to those options. The swarm proved useless, and the baton was the only other option.

I've been pulled over a few times for speeding. Only time I had a problem I ever had was in Illinois on the way to my Father in laws house.

We had just come from the range and my Sig 226 was unloaded and in the trunk. Porky confiscated it and I never got it back.

If you act nice, cooperate and kiss a little ass most of the time you will get a warning. if not sign the ticket and get out of there.

But if I ever get a mad wake up by an assault team I'd probably end in a blaze of bullets. I truly hate jack booted thugs of any flavor. F da police

you’re right... he says “how you doing, you’re going kinda fast.... let me see your license and registration”. I wonder how much faster he was going than the cop car that he was following?

I did view the video. When I did stops at night I always approached the car from the passenger side, one reason was in the video, the other most of the time they cannot see you, or a shadow, and surprise. The risk is you might trip or step in a hole, tough to see in the dark.

...Incorrect. Watch the video again. The officer begins pulling out his taser at the same moment that he first orders the man to "turn around put your hands behind your back". Officer was ITCHING to taser the guy.

and he had good cause...the driver was reaching into his pocket. Maybe just putting his thumb into his pocket. Hard to tell.

Either way, the driver was in fault at this point.

Miranda warnings are required prior to in custody interrogation, not prior to arrest. The guy had no right to a Miranda warning.

This tazing crap is outta hand.

Here in Houston, a cop tazed a guy through the vehicle window while the guy was asking why he was stopped.

Man I hate what our country is becoming.

I'm in health care. Patients and family members get frightened, upset and even abusive to staff at times. We wouldn't want to but we can't taz ,hit, or use physical force against them. Because of that we have learned to read behaviors and diffuse volatile situations. Only in times where they were in immediate danger to themselves or others would we consider restraining and we would do so without weapons.

Cops used to be able to do this too (and many still do) but I'm concerned the tazer is replacing that skill. As someone posted It's 'easier" to taz them.
