Oh, and don’t even ask me about Ohio — it’s messed up and it’s going to be very, very close. The dems put three horrible issues on the ballot in the last electin to get them to the polls (and they had the same two in NV and MO). In the last poll I saw here (IIRC) McCain was leading, but it was very tight. I’d have to look it up. I’ll work even harder to make sure this state stays red, but it’s going to be the toughtest fight ever.
Y’know, if Romney can run for President, why not Bob Taft ? Both went a long way into crippling or burying their state party’s fortunes. I mean, really, is it too much to ask that the Republicans we run for President have actual successful track records for not laying waste to both the Conservative agenda AND their local parties ?
I'm afraid that they learned that trick from the 2004 election. I still wonder whether President Bush would have beaten Kerry if we hadn't had homosexual marriage on the ballot in eleven states (or however many it was). California had a controversy about school books recently. I think they were eliminating references to Christmas or something of that nature because a state judge ruled that these references violated the state constitution's separation clause. I've wondered if Republicans shouldn't get amendments on the 2008 ballots to say that school books can contain religious references. That kind of referendum might get our people to the polls again.
