PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― The U.S. Military is demanding that thousands of wounded service personnel give back signing bonuses because they are unable to serve out their commitments.
To get people to sign up, the military gives enlistment bonuses up to $30,000 in some cases.

Well, this is one time when I disagree with the military.
Not just no, but hell no!
He earned 110% of it.
They should respond that they are ready for duty, and that the Gov can kiss their A$$...
WTF?
Bean counters... Incredible.
Is this the best we can do for these kids? I'm ashamed of this and it's got to be fixed. I'm writing to my congresscritters.
This happen to one person. The military said it was a glitch and it will be taken care of..The media and certain persons would like to make a Big Deal out of this. Mistakes happen in government and business all the time this will be resolved...
If it's veteran's affairs or if they have anything to do with this whatever, I'd say it's dirty politics from the Committee Chairman, Bob Filner, (D) CA.
Filner is an anti-war weenie from the 60s, BIO note from his bio, the connections to the ACLU, Common Cause, the Sierra Club... He has been nehind several of the dirty tricks over the past year in effort to turn the troops against the President.
One such trick, although unprovable, was the effort to turn vets and Gold Star families against Pres. Bush by denying Vietnam vets' families tours of the WH knowing full well they didn't qualify for them under the policy instituted by the Bush Admin.
Damn right!
Which idiot bean-counter came up with this brainless idea?
Not only is it a totally rotten thing to do, it’s going to hurt recruiting because if a potential enlistee gets the idea that Uncle Sam is going to want the bonus back if he is injured in combat, why the hell would he be stupid enough to sign?
Penny-wise, pound-foolish indeed!
WTF?
When did this start? and who caused it to begin?
I rarely post, but this just burns me up.
I would tell them to stick their letter where the sun doesn’t shine.
Time to write my Congressman.
See my reply at #8
Fox said more than one.
To amend title 37, United States Code, to require the Secretary of Defense to continue to pay to a member of the Armed Forces who is retired or separated from the Armed Forces due to a combat-related injury certain bonuses that the member was entitled to before the retirement or separation and would continue to be entitled to if the member was not retired or separated.
Agreed probably an isolated incident, but not beyond the realm of possibility to be a dirty trick by the rats.
“Time to write my Congressman.”
LOL! ARKS!
I have to say even the federal government is not that stupid - will be rectified.
