A former beauty queen is suing her airline-mechanic husband, claiming he tried to hide his lottery jackpot from her.

The clues trickled in that Donna Campbell's husband was hiding something from her.

Arnim Ramdass started to keep the television off at all times, then he disconnected their phone line. But the ah-ha! moment came when Campbell thumbed through the mail at their Miramar house and saw a postcard: Congratulations on the purchase of your new home.

Something tells me that she's just as ugly inside as she is lovely on the out. He saw a chance to get away from her, and took it.

Husband: “Pack your bags! I just won the lottery.”

Wife: “Where are we going? “

Husband: “I’m not going anywhere.”

I heard it:

Should I pack for the country or the seaside?

I don’t care which. Just get the heck out.

The guy is an idiot! To bad, both partys to this law suite are going to have the whole 600K eaten up by the lawyers! The lawyers will string this out until they figure the pot is empty!

Florida is the definitive community property state. When they find this guy, he’s going to be burnt toast without parole. And after that, it’s all downhill.

With $19 million, it should be no problem to buy a new identity and disappear.

Similar case came up in another community property state, California. Seems the wife was part of an employee group who won the state lottery. She consulted with the lottery people about keeping it for herself. They advised her to delay payment until she filed for divorce and have the payments delivered to her mother’s address. A few years later ex-husband gets a solicitation from one of those companies which lend money on lottery winnings paid over time. He investigates, finds the lottery information and sues for a share. Judge decides the woman fraudulently concealed the winnings in their divorce disclosure papers and awarded 100% of the remaining payments to ex-husband. I think she had been getting payments (about $65K a year) for only about five years of a twenty-year payout so I think she seriously blew it. Moral: Never take divorce advice from the lottery people.

Donna Campbell, seen here with her lawyer, Bruce Baldwin, is suing her husband over a lottery fortune. Campbell's husband is an American Airlines mechanic who recently hit the Florida lotto jackpot with a pool of a fellow employees at MIA.

Two men are being held in the Hampton City Jail, accused of hitting a 55-year-old woman in the head with a hammer in an attempt to rob her of winning lottery tickets, police said.

The woman, an aunt of one of the men, was trying to turn in two tickets worth $5,200 total at the Virginia Lottery office in Hampton on Monday afternoon when one of the suspects hit her, said Cpl. Allison Good, a police spokeswoman.

The victim, of Mathews, was struck in the back of the head with a hammer several times outside the lottery office, in the 3300 block of W. Mercury Blvd., police said. She was taken to a hospital for a non-life-threatening cut to the head.

Two Mathews men were each charged with maiming, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, police said. The men were identified as Blake Jordan and Kenneth Marshall, both 22, of the 1300 block of Marshawk Road.

Police would not disclose which man was related to the victim, in order not to identify her.
