Mike Huckabee Supported Bill to GIve Driver's Licenses to Illegal Aliens

During the 2001 regular session of the Arkansas Legislature, Mike Huckabee supported giving driver's licenses to illegal aliens.

How did he do that? Here are a few excerpts from 2001 articles about the legislation and Huckabee's support of it, as expressed by a spokesman, his liaison to the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

I've lived all over the planet. My husband and I are both Yankees who have adopted Arkansas as our Own.

The people here are gracious and wonderful. We love most everything about this beautiful State.

We do need a State Lottery, which is being brought to the ballot by Lt. Gov. Bill Halter, a Democrat.

I may be missing the point, but you are missing reality.

They are here, they are going to be on our roads, certified or uncertified, insured or uninsured. There is no politician likely to be elected to major office who is going to have the political will to mobilize the massive forces to round up 12,000,000 people, provide the transportation and deal with the countries they would have to be sent or delivered to. Can you imagine any Congress likely to be elected in the near future that will provide the funds for such an enterprise? Just try to picture it, and then decide who is missing the point.
