I don’t see a lot of “greats” that should be there. Is this just the living ones?...........

I went to the Opry website. That’s the list they have posted. It must be a list of living and active artists? Roy Acuff was definitely a member and he’s not listed, so it must be living ones only........

I had an old vinyl of one of Charlie’s Volunteer Jams. Best version of “Tennessee Waltz” ever recorded (imo) with “Papa” John Creach and Charlie both making that fiddle absolutely cry.
Wish I could find that on cd.

Looks like only the living ones.

I saw him back in the 70’s on a double bill with the Doobie Brothers. I’ll never forget it.

Cool. Now when are they going to add the Marshall Tucker Band and some more of my favorite Southern Rock bands. I know probably never but I just had to say it.

Well technically... Porter Wagoner is still on the list and he died last week.
To: Anitius Severinus Boethius
I didn’t know that about Porter ...

even if it’s just living artists, doesn’t explain Willie, Alabama, Strait, etc
must be some internal politics involved.

Willie, I can understand. He’s been a “outlaw” for most of his career. But Alabama, and a few others is puzzling.......

Well, Willie Nelson and George Strait are all about Texas. Alabama is all about... Alabama. I guess you have pay homage to Nashville to be considered.

Thanks for the thread!

I’ve often wondered why newbie country singers are added prior to the oldies but goodies. I just don’t understand.
